I’d watch that conference
I’d watch that conference too, but G5ish budget schools like Tulane and Louisiana, and even UCF, having to travel to Boise, Wyoming and BYU for non-revenue matchups in softball, women’s basketball, volleyball and tennis would be a drain.
Track & Field and golf could hopefully work out for their conference meet/tournaments to be more centralized for everyone, and just have those athletes compete in closer open meets/tournaments during their regular season.

All this time Tech, Tulane and ULL fans spent battling, we are all going to be left in the dust when the big boys separate.
Truth. But a conference like this would be fun for fanbases, IMO, across several sports.
Cajuns
LA Tech
Tulane
Rice
UTSA
Southern Miss
South AL
Arkansas State
Texas State
Middle Tennessee
SMU
Some other school
I’m assuming UofH goes more “P5ish” at that point, though it would be awesome to have them in that mix.
Tulane would see this as a step down, but let’s be honest, this is pretty much the group they’re with athletically. Their academics is the only reason they’re able to be in a better conference than Cajuns and LA Tech at this point. In the above scenario, they can have Rice as an academic peer to help them feel better.
As a college baseball fan, I could really dig some conference matchups vs half of that list.

This is more palatable.

I like it. I think UTSA would be good in that mix.
Love the idea of Tulsa and Navy, and thought of Tulsa in my original list, but would either want to be part of that group?

quote:The Big XII will not keep their TV contracts or bowl contracts, without Texas and OU. Before this is all over I think some current Big XII teams will be looking for spots in the AAC and CUSA. That's what happened to four former SWC teams. Houston, Rice, SMU and TCU got left out of the Big XII. TCU got in after they spent something like 17 years hopping from the WAC to CUSA to the Mountain West before being invited when Colorado and Nebraska left. WVU was also brought in with TCU.
If the Big 12 lives on with the remaining 8 members, I'd guess they'd wan to add Cincy, Houston and the 2 Florida schools from the AAC

Basically relaunch the SWC. Would be a lot of fun, but would just require Tulane, SMU and Tulsa to swallow their pride a little bit.

This is all such a fricking joke, sports have become ruined right down to lsu and their woke bs. Who would have thought the day when ULL is the conservative stalwart.

His intel is gold so I honored his request.

You didn't say what 7 from the AAC. Tell me.

It is an easy guess - it is the schools that can write a large check very quickly.

I am so mad I missed the juicy post
I hope it was good stuff for Tech because your Tech connections are stupid good. You called that BYU game weeks before it even began to leak.
