Wow, a team not from Lake Charles or Lafayette is representing Louisiana?! I'll be honest, I haven't paid much attention to the LLWS in recent years, but it seemed like in the early to mid-2000s, it was always an LC or Laffy team representing Louisiana.

To the tune of these kids missing their first week or so of their school year.

Fascinating times in which we live.

These kids have worked their arse off and Scott and the rest of the coaching staff have done a tremendous job with the kids.

What a ridiculous take. LLWS Has always gone into the 1st week of school. I doubt the kids missing one week of 6th grade is going to affect their education.

Is this Dixie?

Saw where Ruston played, and that there is a Louisiana team also in same tournament. How is that?

Have been on the Longhorn Network all week
Know parents of a kid on the team
Play winner of Texas and Oklahoma on Wed
It's basically a travel ball team that was put together to try and make it to Williamsport

These teams are a shell of the teams from 20+ years ago

South Lake Charles made it in 92 and has been back a few times. Around the 2000 mark little league expanded and doubled the amount of teams that make Williamsport so now teams only have to win about half the games to get there.

Plus travel ball and now kids can play in different leagues.

Good luck to Louisiana but these teams and Little League as a whole aren’t nearly what they use to be as far as quality of teams.

I can remember in Lake Charles in the 90s every kid in town played little league and you had some bad asses that played for South LC and Mid City.

Then whomever put this team together did a horrible job or that parish has some weak travel teams. You know since the teams must be of kids from same parish, "LEGALLY". GO LOUISIANA!

Honestly the ones playing travel ball get better exposure and some of the best players aren't turning to Little League after a long travel ball season.
Most are moving on to football as colleges look for athletes not just year round baseball players

Agreed. Most of the best players don’t play little league anymore.

They’re only allowed to use kids within their district. Are you suggesting that this league has cheated??
