1994 Bonnabel vs St aug first round game bonnabel up by 5 or 6 with the ball and a few seconds left and has to run one more play.

Qb takes snap runs around until time expires throws ball up into air a purple knight catches is and takes it to the house - knights advance.

I'm assuming your dad has retired. Any idea what year he hung it up? I wonder if I may have known him.
I think he stopped reffing ball in the mid to late 80s

Covington high vs Shaw semifinal 1976 at covington ,Shaw was led by John Fourcade and he left the game early first half with a leg injury and was taken to the hospital ,the score was Shaw 6 Chs 0 and returned late in the fourth quarter when chs returned a punt to take the lead 7-6 and shaw got down in fieldgoal range and they sent John out to atempt a FG and he couldn't get the ball over the line of scrimage , the following week Covington beat Istrouma 14-7 for the state championship

I was a big fan of Belle Chasse eliminating Bastrop in the 2008 playoffs ending their chance at a four-peat.

If I recall Reuben Randal was their QB right after Randall Mackey.

They later vacated 2005 for recruiting.

Big fan if this thread:
Lafayette parish boy and a few memories/thoughts stick out to me.
2010 Acadiana going midevil in the playoffs as the “27” seed was something else. Absolutely blasting what was STM’s best team ever up to that point in the semi’s and then finishing it against WM in the dome.
ND in the 00’s under cook were a machine. I went to TCH and we usually had very good teams but were simply not a match for ND especially if we met in the playoffs.
VC against Kentwood for 03 1A title is a forgotten classic. Defensive slugfest that looked like kentwood was going to win until their punter went down to his knee to pick it up. VC got ball around KW’s 25 with around 5 minutes left. Joe Simon (RIP) got it about 5 times in a row to score a td to make it 10-6. KW got ball with a minute left or so and did nothing with it.

You remember the 2002 Patterson-Tuerlings Quarterfinal game?

Patterson scored like 26 points in the last 5 minutes to win.

Yes unfortunately.
2001-2002 were probably Sonny’s best teams and lost at home as the higher seed in the quarters both years. They were probably not beating Parkview in 01 or Redemptorist in 02 but ya never know.
Yea the Patterson game hurt bad.
In 01 some guy named Chris Henry feasted on our 5’8” white cbs lol.
That was a colossal mismatch in a wild shootout that ended 42-35 for Belle Chasse

Wasn’t there a playoff game that ended in a tie, and every possible tie breaker was also tied? This forced a second game. I may be completely lost on this, but I thought it happened in LA.

It's happened twice 1972 semifinal at Gormley Brother Martin vs Neville tied 0-0 and first downs and penetrations were the tie breakers both of those were tied. On a phone call to LHSAA the coaches were told to flip a coin - they refused. Replayed whole game Tuesday PM in Ellick with Neville beating the defending state champ crusaders to go on to beat Airline 6-0 in the finals(despite what commentators in "glory days - this history of the catholic league of NOLA saying that the real state championship was that Tuesday, because Neville blew out Airline in the finals).... That game was a classic. Preseason top 10 had Bro. Mart, Neville and Airline as 1-2-3 Week 10 Neville 1 Bro Mart 4 and Airline 5. Airline's semi opponent was South Terrebonne who beat 7th ranked OPW in quarters - on the muddiest field I have ever seen or been on.

Another game in 1950s Basile and Sicily Island tied 7-7 and in tie breakers too. Sicily island won the rematch on Tuesday but lost their friday game.

Ironically the Bro Mart Neville game is what gave rise to LA implementing Overtime a few years later AND Bro Mart along with 2 other 9-1 teams that missed the playoffs in 1983 led to "wild cards" being implemented in 1984.
