Prayers to coach and his family. He lost his wife of 58 years, Beth, today.

Dang. That’s rough. Despite his hate for LSU I did always enjoy him on game day and college football live. Prayers for him and his family.

Far too often this happens and the other spouse passes shortly after.

Lou Holtz is as good of a man as they come. I miss him, Mark May and Rece Davis doing the pregame, halftime and postgame stuff on ESPN.

I can’t prove it, but there were rumors one of the reasons he left ESPN was because they gave Bruce Jenner the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY’s. A lot of people were pissed about that.

Thoughts and prayers to him.

As dumb as he may have came across picking ND every game, he seems to be a good man. If what is true about Bruce Jenner, I have a lot more respect for him leaving ESPN.

I can't imagine living 58 years, much less being married for that long. T&P's to Dr. Lou

Not surprising. He was just doing that job for fun and then ESPN pulls that BS.

He is only 83, probably wouldn't have gotten married at 13 anywhere but Kentucky, but he is not from there.

Not gonna lie. He’s either 83 or 93 in my book. I wonder how he feels about trans getting married.

One of my earliest memories was meeting Coach Holtz and his wife Beth.

He would end his press conferences at Arkansas frequently by saying she'd have his hide if he was late for dinner.

Probably not the best thread with all the praise he’s getting but there aren’t many Lou Holtz threads where I can share this story

I met a guy once that played for Holtz at Arkansas and said he couldn’t wait til the day Holtz died so he could go take a giant shite on his grave needless to say, he hated the guy

For some reason I thought he had been widowed a long time ago. Didn't his wife have cancer around the time Skip had his health issues?

I have sympathy for anyone who loses a long time spouse, including Lou Holtz. However, those saying what a great guy he is are off the mark.

A friend's father worked in the Arkansas athletic media office for many years. He said that there was no difference between Lou Holtz and Bobby Petrino. They were both assholes of epic proportions. The only difference was Holtz was fake a shite if he thought a camera was rolling.

All you have to do is watch the video of Holtz needlessly berating the poor TV intern when he was at South Carolina to see exactly what a piece of shite he really is.

That was a rough video to watch.
