Why even announce it?

If you have to announce that you are keeping your coach, the damage is already done and you shouldn't keep your coach

How is that even going to work?

Is Nick Saban running their AD?

I’m sure this whole fiasco won’t have any impact on his ability to recruit or effectively manage the program

To be fair, he hasn’t really shown the ability to do that before all this

Knowing auburn, they’ll somehow wander into the title game next season.

This is gonna be a disaster. Like when USC pulled in the 63rd ranked recruiting class because Helton was a dead man walking for over a year

Bright side for Auburn is that resulted in them making one of the biggest hires you could possibly make and seemed to reignite the desire for the AD department/alumni to care about football again

Down side for Auburn is that their AD department/alumni already does care about football they just don’t know how to do that in a healthy way conducive to winning, so I’m not sure if the same upside exists

If I’m Harsin, I’m mailing it in just above the threshold of “for cause” for the rest of this contract. Give me my money and enjoy this mediocrity.

What a chicken shite thing to undercut your first year coach.

again I just don't get what Auburn was thinking with this hire. Seemed painfully obvious he was going to get eaten alive recruiting in the SEC

Auburn fans have claimed he was always the #1 choice but I’m not sure they will be sticking to that thought now he sure felt like their 12th option

I don’t think many college coaches would have a job if not fishing off the company pier was a condition of continued employment.

Yeah, this means we have no option that is better at this point. Dude is dead man walking, Auburn will have their ducks in a row and this dude will be gone at the end of 2022.
