LIV golf is unwatchable to me

I just dislike the music and can’t really understand the leisure. I’ve watched and played golf for the competitive spirit for a serious 50 years. Golf is supposed to be different.
That’s why I’ve always loved it as separate from team sports.
Selling out is just one more reason to not care.

There are several aspects of LIV that are a turn off for sure. A lot of very good players though which I enjoyed watching.
Would like to see a deal reached soon. Rahm, Cam, Brooks, DJ, Niemann, Bryson etc. competing with Scheffler, JT, Hovland, Cantlay, Xander, Spieth and company week in and week out is what is in the best interest of the sport.
The guys at the top of the leaderboard and in contention on tour the last few weeks has been very underwhelming.
The TV presentation on CBS/NBC/Golf Channel with the commercials, playing through, interviewing of sponsors, etc. instead of showing shots is also pretty jarring compared to LIV’s constant action from all over the course.

I got so excited to see golf early on CW but hip hop rap and pop ain’t going to cut it with me.
Guess I’m just too old at 60.

It’s not just you. I’m 35 and can’t watch it. I guess I’m a traditionalist.

Agreed.
Too much crap on the screen when watching. Teams, logos, stats everywhere.
If they made it more traditional where we could focus on the golfers and their shots, it’s be more watchable.

Oh no, LIV Golf looks different than the PGA on tv?! That must mean it’s a terrible product!
It’s supposed to be different. If you watch LIV & expect a PGA Tournament, then you will be disappointed.
I watched all 3 rounds of LIV & had zero complaints. Music, team competition, etc is just part of it. I thought it was pretty entertaining seeing Crusher GC & Ripper GC make a run for the team competition yesterday

Everyone knows that LIV is meant to be different than the PGA.
I’m glad you liked it, good for you.
It’s not my cup of tea.

We also have a couple posters here that could be on LIV payroll. It goes both ways.
The problem with golf is we took a product that was good and fractured it into two products that nobody is really enjoying.
I personally don’t like LIV, but there’s things they do better than the PGA and vice versa. The quicker there’s a merger the better.

I agree, not that it shouldn't be played on the course but they need to turn it down on the broadcast, sometimes you cant hear the announcers over the music.
However it was a good match yesterday playing well into the night.

My only complaint is the volume of the music. Can't even hear Feherty and Foltz at times.
Are the graphics different? Sure. Are they bothersome? No, not really.
This was the first LIV broadcast I've watched since the Boston event in late summer of 2022. It made me miss seeing a lot of these guys play. That makes me sad.

Can we get a LIV Bitchfest Thread stickied?
For people who don’t like watching, y’all sure don’t mind bitching about it ever day or so.

Plan on not watching this week?

I think one issue is taking unique moments (the 16th hole at WM and the Ryder Cup) and thinking people are dying for more of that, and not realizing the fact it’s a one off with organic creation that makes it so popular
I think another issue which is no fault of LIv is people didn’t need another golf tour. The popularity of the sport from a viewership perspective wasn’t busting at the seams so much that it could support it.
Even American football which is the most popular sport here by a landslide can’t support spin-offs. They all fail.

I watched a little yesterday. I can definitely take it or leave it. Commentary was meh, music was annoying, the team stuff… who really gives a shite? Beyond that, the golf was golf.
I’m probably not the guy to be critiquing it anyway though. I’ve always struggled to actually sit and be captivated by any tournament other than the majors.
