Well they call themselves the “Free Smoke Tour” and the band is #TeamBustEmUp

But yeah, imagine handing the Catholic League to John Curtis and St. Aug while you go play teams that no one else but you care about

Then lose one and you’ll be champions of nothing

The rule now is if you want to play up in class, 5A is your only option. You can’t be 2A in enrollment and play in 4A, you can be 2A and if you choose to play up, you go all the way to 5A

Does this apply to non football playing schools?

Say an all girls school is Div III in cross country, but wants to compete at Div II. Is this allowed?

Didn't they run off a coach that suggested that?

That rule is so dumb…Loyola for example has everything to do with travel and nothing to do with competition…. The travel cost will be absorbed by them but some of the others in the new district may not be so happy
Ironically I have talked to two different school admins that wanna revisit this.

I heard Karr next year won’t be playing for district honors and wants to play a national schedule?
Hard to finance that.

Probably finance it from the same way they’re paying their players

But then if they can afford that why do they need tax dollars?

And it’s a NOLA charter that had the shenanigans with the St. Aug fans being denied entry to their game with no refund… I wouldn’t be surprised at anything financially coming from there

Why? Holy Cross is competitive with all of their historical rivals right where they are in all sports.

No one associated with the school has any interest in moving because it makes zero sense.

As for Coach Salt, it was a terrible mistake firing him. If he had been given one more year he would still be at HC today. His last team in 2022 only won three games but they were very competitive and talented and the ended up the #1 seed in 2023

Divisional sports don't have this rule and can play up in any division.

It’s only for football, basketball, baseball and softball.

Someone refresh my memory. Do the enrollment numbers affect the next 2 years or 4 years?

How do schools like Catholic, Chapelle, AOL, and Shaw have odd numbers?

Holy Cross is in very bad shape currently. They have less than 400 kids in 9-12, the school is in dire Financial Straits, people are jumping off the ship left and right and their Football coaches desperately want to drop down.

Competitive, yes.

In 4A / Div II they might win championships

They can count 7th and 8th grade if those grades are under the administration control of the high school principal

But… you do not double 7th or 8th grade students

So if a school has 51 in 8th grade and 400 in 9-12, their number is 851, not 992.
