touching it beyond the expanded neutral zone takes the line to gain out of the equation. if recovered by K with clean hands beyond ENZ - new series for K,
I would bet the initial ASH touch was outside the enz. I would guess the Ruston recovery would’ve been near it. If that matters.

We’re 6-0 in two years in the Northshore district and 5 have been very competitive… one of these days our luck has to run out, right?

Hopefully not soon… looking at power ratings, we might need to win district to get into playoffs. Lakeshore only team really helping us… holy cross a bit too…

The kicking game be it scrimmage or free kicks are so few plays in a game yet so much craziness can happen on any given kick and odds of getting some of it right because you almost never see it happen and a season can turn on it.

I spend a big chunk of my pregame on kicking game

Based on what I’ve read here it probably should’ve been Ruston’s ball. Only thing I can think of is maybe the officials didn’t see the ball touch the ASH player.

that would’ve been impossible. He tried to scoop and score, lol.

But I did have a big whiskey drink on the ride up.

It was a big play at the time. I would disagree that it is a good rule, but it appears it was in all likelihood supposed to be Bearcat ball

I would be pretty frustrated if I was Ruston coach…it was discussed at length and hs games can change momentum on a dime.

Sumner 41
Pine 14

Sumner got punched in the mouth early, going down 14-0 in the first. The wake up call worked, as the team turned it on from there. A little adversity to overcome will benefit them in the long run.

Lost a game once because the punt was so pitiful it didn’t make it to the line of scrimmage. We scream PETER as everyone does. They pick it up and run in 70 yards for a touchdown. Since the ball never crossed the LOS, the kicking team was allowed to pick it up without us touching it. How often does that come up?

I agree. Streaming it in real time I saw it hit the ash player. Looking at a replay, I focused on the officials and none of them seem to indicate a ball hitting the ash player.

I assume they would toss a bean bag if they thought this occurred? I’m not an official though.

Yup

I’d like to see us play one or two of the bayou schools in the next non-district cycle. Maybe also Covington or Mandeville

I've seen it happen 5 times.

5 times and once in a semifinal game, the player that picked it up walked to sidelines with it( tried to give it to an official that just stood there). One ran it about 40 yards team went on to score, but lost.

One was really bizarre semifinal 25 knot winds ball crossed LOS but wind blew it back - just like the other 3 that didn't realize they could advance it this kid likely would have scored.

Coach of the team that had the ball advanced on them almost got DQ'd

one additional time an official blew a whistle killing the play, but the runner was not advancing.

And yet the officials let an ASH player return a KO from out the end zone even though by rule it’s dead, and he fumbled and WM kicks the winning FG. Football gods taketh, then giveth back

The ball never crossed the plane of the endzone, that's the key point to that play.

The ASH player took one step back into the endzone but the ball in his hands was in the field of play.

M will have zero trouble w Ruston and less with Neville.

WM has every advantage over Ruston, but it is HS football. My two cents

LOL, IDK about that. The WM/Neville game is one of the biggest rivalry games of the season for both teams.

Anything can happen in games like that. Neville has had WMs number the last few years. I look for WM to get back in the win column.

Same with Ruston. Ruston has stout players. Thats gonna be another huge game.

I think WM has the talent and ole mo' to win both of those games.

If you know what crew worked Chalmette - Fontainebleau, they deserve a kudos for this sequence

Chalmette QB throws a screen pass. Looks like a forward pass to me but it was close. RB drops it. Official never blows whistle. Defender picks up ball and returns it to end zone, official on scene signals TD

White hat immediately calls official TO. Gets together with that official and umpire and discuss about 20 seconds. White hat then signals incomplete pass.

Thought it was a great example of the officials letting it play out and then working together to clean it up.

I do

WM is more physical, stronger at point of attack, more multiple, better QB, seemingly better prepared and conditioned. Also the play calling from WM stresses defenses.

WM had a hiccup against North Desoto. And it could happen again, I just don’t see it.

Ruston’s front 7 on D has taken a big drop off this year from years past. Dline much smaller than normal
