ASH just got an unscheduled JV game for tomorrow at St Thomas More. Wonder if this had a domino effect for them after losing their varsity game.

Any dumbass doing this shite needs to be kicked off whatever shite team they play for

Supposedly one kid took off his belt and whipped the other kid with it in the handshake line.

Some have said it was a racial thing, others said it was just a dumb thing to do. That’s what sparked it apparently.

KLFY Story from today

quote:

KLFY has learned that both North Vermilion and Comeaux high schools will forfeit their football games scheduled this week, after the two teams were involved in a fight after last week’s game.

North Vermilion was scheduled to play Teurlings and Comeaux was slated to face STM. KLFY has not been able to reach administrators from either North Vermilion or Comeaux for comment, but coaches from both of their opponents have confirmed the forfeits.

Dane Charpentier, head coach of Teurlings Catholic High School, said he was informed that the two schools were forced to forfeit their game this week by the LHSAA due to the fight that took place

STM assistant coach Shane Savoie also confirmed the forfeit, and said his team will try to find a new opponent on short notice, but will accept the forfeit if unsuccessful.

Lafayette Parish School Superintendent Francis Touchet issued a statement on the fight Tuesday afternoon, emphasizing the district’s zero-tolerance policy for misconduct at any school event.

“The Comeaux High School administration has investigated the fight that occurred after Friday night’s football game at North Vermilion High,” the statement reads. “The team will forfeit their upcoming game against St. Thomas More, and those players involved will face disciplinary action. Let me be clear: Unsportsmanlike behavior and misconduct will not be tolerated at any of our schools or during extracurricular activities. Students who choose to engage in such actions will face serious consequences.”

TCHS HOMECOMING UPDATE:
*Homecoming football game Friday night - North Vermilion must forfeit the game due to being scantioned by the LHSAA, therefore we will NOT be playing a game this Friday.

*All Homecoming activities planned for this week will proceed as scheduled with the exception of the pre-game and halftime presentations, including the announcement of the Homecoming Queen. These presentations will now take place on Friday, November 8, 2024, during the game against Northside.

*Alumni Reception has been postponed until Friday, November 8, 2024.
*Those who have already purchased tickets for the Homecoming game on Friday, GOFAN will be refunding you sometime this week.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to celebrating with you throughout the week and on November 8th.

We played @ North Vermillion a few years ago in the playoffs. One of the worst fan bases I’ve seen. They talked a lot of shite during a game in which they lost 30-0.

I have high school boys that play football. The way I understand it, it is a Tic Tock thing. Most of what I have seen is black on black so not racial.

A team that my kids team played pulled it on another team the week before our game. It sounds like a brawl almost broke out but was defused before it got too bad. The opposing coach dealt with it prior to our game. It may have also helped that my kids team beat the prior belt to arse team by 40+ so they were humbled.

Yes, I believe so.

I know they are thankful to Alexandria for the JV and freshman games

Good description. I didn’t really think to explain the details earlier.

we played last night but it was pretty light for the starters. I think they only played about 5 snaps on offense and 9 on defense.

On a Wednesday? I wonder if they'll play their varsity guys like they normally due with it being so close to Friday. I don't understand this new trend of teams playing their best players that aren't seniors in JV games. I've been told the philosophy is you can't replicate game time snaps, so it gives the kids more experience quickly. Not ASH, but I've seen 4 stars playing JV games the last couple of years. It's definitely a different strategy.

That happens because freshmen play freshmen ball and seniors can’t play JV, so you only have sophomores and juniors available

I was wrong, it was STM at Comeaux this week, it was not the STM HOCO

NVHS at TCHS this week was Teurlings HOCO

I am not sure how others do it, I know there are teams that play alot of varsity kids. ASH does as well, but mainly sophmores that get varsity starts or playing time, I dont know that I see any Jr starters on the JV roster, but we definitely play Jrs that are varsity contributors. Seems that most programs do. The real rub for ASH is we have two soph QBs on varsity that get the snaps, we dont have a true QB in the Jr or Sr class, so when you see our JV trot out, our varsity QBs are running the offense.
