Many 45 - Haughton 42. Double OT

Haughton kicker missed a 52 yarder at the gun, then missed a 23 yarder to win in the first OT, and missed a 22 yarder in the 2nd OT. Many nailed a 33 yarder to win in the 2nd possession of the 2nd OT

Greta game and atmosphere there tonight but the refs were bad for both sides. They threw 5-7 personal foul flags on both sides that were completely unnecessary calls that slowed the game down

Refs were terrible, but I can’t think of many drives that we really extended in b favor of the cubs because of bad calls, but it seemed to happen over and over for CHS. I didn’t go to either school, but I felt like it really was more one sided in favor of CHS. Admittedly, I missed the penalty on the missed kick…so I don’t know if that was a bad cal or not.

I also thought it was annoying how CHSs band, which is great, played throughout UHSs offensive plays and timed the tuba in their rendition of thr USC fight song right before the snap EVERY play. Literally, EVERY play, ALL game long. I know that’s illegal in college and certainly would think it is in HS. CHSs band went silent when CHs had the ball, as did UHighs band (which is pretty small).

Overall, first UHS/CHS game and it was one of the best HS games, environment wise, I have been too. Would be nice to have been in a little bigger stadium as I’m sure it still would have filled up.

Also, CHS’s coach was really stupid for doing the onside kick over and over and over.

Lots of football left to play and things to accomplish…

A couple years we won district and a playoff game with a worse QB and a worse team

Any true competitor woujd feel that way.

But this team overall is better than the 2921 team. Two scrappy teams in the next two weeks then district. This team can make a run.

I thought the coaching for both Catholic and Uhigj hamstrung their teams offensively

And I didn’t understand Catholics kicking game at all. They would have arse onside kick, and then they would still punt deep to the returner to eat them up

Rummel WR drops a touchdown pass on 4th and 10. Shaw gets ball back. 5:59 left in Game.

Rummel had two drops in the end zone…

Shaw came out to play, they got the megaphone back after 16 years. Their fans were fired up….

Rummel needs to get back on track. It’s the worst Rummel defense I’ve probably ever seen. You needed a calculator to count the miss tackles they had.

I knew and told many, that the QB/ Offense for CHS would struggle this year. So far, I’m spot on

If you let PFs go the offended kids get frustrated and retaliate and it escalates - and then brawls. It’s also s point of emphasis this year

I think the refs called things they thought they were seeing due to the point of emphasis

On one play it was clear as day a uhigh player tripped at the end of the play and barely fell ln a Catholic guy and they threw the flag on the uhigh player

There had to be close to 200 yards of penalties in the game

First high school game you’ve been to? It’s not illegal.

Catholic should have been able to put uhigh away a couple times but couldnt.. for that alone… uhigh deserves credit but the ending was all kinds of wonky and a bit of karma for catholic stealing one a couple years ago… I only saw the one replay but it sure didn’t look like roughing the kicker but OK.. … but you have the kicker removing his helmet and the uhigh fans storming the field after the first missed kick. Seems like a penalty couldve been thrown somewhere in all that

Great game regardless. Big week coming up for Catholic. Got to clean up a Very undisciplined game with unnecessary penalties if they want to have a shot.

One last thing about the Chalmette High game. Bobby Nuss is one of the nicest HS stadiums around but that PA system is fricking dirt. They need to fix that shite asap.

In 30 plus years, yes.

That aside, It was clearly intentional what they were doing, with the conductor turning around and watching the snap. EVERY PLAY. CHS band was pretty impressive. Took up like a 1/4 of their bleachers. Very loud. So I thought their intentional involvement in the game was pretty pathetic.

Yeah that’s common these days.

WF beat McKinley is a game that should not have been this close. 30-28. 3 critical turnovers for WF keep it close. Met Boosie’s cousin at the game.

Why we have the split

This ain’t your fathers Catholic League… it gets talked about how there’s less and less St Bernard representation on HC, but this game won’t go away for a few reasons

1. Money- it brings our biggest away crowd and a bigger home crowd than usual

2. Power rating- HC is looking at 19 points if we run the table the rest of the way. They’d be dumb to let that go. Likewise if we’re a fringe hosting team and only expecting 4 wins from HC, if we beat them, that’s power points we didn’t expect to have

Maybe it’s less of a backyard brawl now and more just a really good 5A opponent for both teams

Off the subject, this team played Lee High in Baton Rouge in the early 70’s. Lee had a very small press box, no way there was enough room for coaches with phones (no headsets, only phones). The coaches for Lee were sitting on top of the gym overhang which overlooked the field, in folding chairs, using walkie talkies. The place was packed. I think this was the last big time game at that stadium until they started using it again when enrollment plummeted in the 2000’s. Baton Rouge football was as big as any other city back then.

My dad played on the Lee team that lost to Neville in the state championship. BR public football was once a thing, he used to shake his head when I was a teenager and say he was still sore from that game.
