U-High lost their Gordon recruits while Catholic has been adding recruits so it’s both.

Good riddance. Although LCA has done a good job of copying the Evangel model.

How was the turnout with fans in the stands? I was tempted to make a run down to "Da Parish" to watch the game but got tangled up with other things last night and couldn't make it.

turnout was about like a normal Chalmette game and a little less than the extra that usually comes out for the CHS-HC game

IDK how long its been since WM got shutout but WMs offensive line was not up to par.

The defense played well but the OL was not prepared at all.

The WM coaches had better get on the ball or its going to be a long season for WM.

After allowing first down on the opening possession of the game, the Rummel defense forced eight consecutive three-and-outs. The Raiders held the Tornadoes to 10 total yards through the first three quarters and 44 total yards for the night.

Should be an interesting game with STM next week

The offensive line and QB are not up to par. This and next year are not going to be your dads WM teams. Ruston for sure will beat them and ASH and Ouchita most likely will. Their freshman team is stacked so it's going to be a down cycle until they get to be juniors and seniors.

Thanks. My wife and I try to make a couple games every year and usually stop by Rocky & Carlos first to grab a bite to eat before the game.

I graduated from there a long time ago when Norris Weese was playing QB and Stanley Moley was their star running back. Bobby Nuss was alive and well at the time and coaching the Owls.

Weese went on to play for Ole Miss following Archie Manning and professionally with the Broncos. His record 120 yards rushing on 12 carries against the Bears is still a single game record for the Denver Broncos organization for a quarterback.

Unfortunately, he passed away a young 43 from bone cancer in 95.

well damn

You didn’t miss much of a game... Blame the St. Bernard Parish school board. When Holy Cross goes from Lecompte to Salt and hires someone like Cannizzaro to coach baseball, those are the type of programs and kids they’ll get. We’re just good enough to compete in a crappy district with no ambition for state, and our coaches know they can lose forever and go nowhere

The two games the wife and I went to last season were losses, so mediocrity seems to be ruling the coaching staff from what you're saying.

As a footnote to my previous post. In Weese's senior year they got into the playoffs and met Woodlawn at Chalmette on a nasty, rainy night. It was standing room only in the stands and the quarterback for Woodlawn was none other than a young Joe Ferguson who lit up the field with his ability. Ferguson followed Terry Bradshaw as Woodlawn's QB. Talk about a school with QB pedigree.

He went on to play ball in the NFL and his career lasted from 73-95 and played for the Bills, Lions, Bucs, Colts and Texans before hanging it up.

General Trass 36
Evangel 25

Trass made the playoffs a few years ago without winning a game for an example of how far Evangel has fallen.

I’m reading between the lines here... we lost to HC, Ehret, and Hahnville last year and won 8 games... so what does that say when none of those 8 wins excited you enough beforehand to go?

I get it

Next week we have Grace King, and who knows, I might skip that one

My dad, 78, tells me this exact story. He and my mom went to that game as well. He graduated from HC but apparently, it was a huge game that all of the parish attended.

Like I said, only about 2 games a year and don't even look at the schedule. We do this when the wife gets off work early enough to hit R&C for a bite and then the game.

Sometimes she doesn't know if she'll get off early enough to go until late Friday afternoon.
