LHSAA to keep current definition of "select" for now

A special LHSAA meeting was just held on whether to keep the current definition of "select" (inc. lab, magnet, & charter schools) or revert back to the January 2022 definition of "select" (which would've made a lot of those schools "non-select" again)
68% of the school representatives present voted to keep it as is and NOT revert back

so stupid, what the hell is the difference between a private school taking out of district kids and a public school taking them? both should be select if we are going to keep the dumbass split
most competitive playoffs in years...and people bitch.

I wish it would all go back to five classifications. Or, the Catholic League and some big boys leave the LHSAA for good and start their own league.

quote:I say this in every LHSAA thread but I would fix the LHSAA by making 5 or 6 divisions, introduce promotion and relegation (when 2 titles in a row move up a division, miss the playoffs 3 years in a row go down a division), legalize all recruiting and let it rip.

Now you’re describing a period of time from 35 to 11 years ago. That Catholic League never had John Curtis or Karr in it
The way the media treats it, we shouldn’t even call it the “Catholic” League. It’s the NOLA all-star league.

They should. Louisiana is too small to have this split. Or if they absolutely insist on a split it should be for lower classifications only - like 2A and below.
Edit: they should actually have a per classification vote where only schools on that classification vote. 5A votes to split or not, 4A votes to split or not, etc. It would keep these tiny schools from voting to decide something for the larger schools

That is happening in January
Today’s vote was a resounding statement to those nine litigators. I can’t fathom how they don’t pull their suit now.

They’re keeping it the same as last year.

Something is bad wrong with the system when a school like OCS can completely dominate a 5a school.
Blow it all up and start over.

Does this keep some 9th grade kids at private schools ineligible.

1 shitty 5a school that probably has the same amount of players on the team with poor coaching and no support?
OCS would get dominated if they played in 4 or 5a
Nobody in the state is evangel or john curtis of the late 90s/early 2000s

They should do whatever allows St Thomas More to avoid the highest classification

Everything is so watered down now, much easier to win a state title.
