There should be 2 select divisions. Maybe 3.

I think 3 Select classifications would work. 4 is too many, but there will be huge differences in enrollment numbers if Select were squeezed into only 2 classes.

Non-Selects should lose a classification as well. There is no reason to keep 5 classes with the split.

I put this in the other Lhsaa thread .. but again:
I agree with 3 select divisions only if the numbers are redrawn. If your proposal was to be followed, Just taking the biggest schools in each As it stands now:

div I could have 5A Catholic BR (2192) potentially playing 4Alusher (695)

Whereas in div II could see ED white (629)
Taking on houma Christian (252).

Numbers as of now show way to much disparity

A student is assigned to a public high school and then he/she will be prohibited from playing sports at their high school because of where they live? I see lawsuits being filed.

I wonder how this will work in Orleans Parish where location doesn't have anything to do with where you attend school...

Why would someone from Select propose for their football teams to not play in the Dome again?

Its a power move to control the format and maybe the money.. Attendance is down anyway and the this way they can play at favorable times to draw more interest

I was told by a former select coach that the difference could be up to 30k per team more in revenue to leave the dome. Bring on Yulman baby!

They would not be on the hook for the 90k it cost for each game in the Superdome.. and then they would profit a ton from the gate at a "home" stadium

LSU should be all over this and let the selects play at tiger stadium for free or at cost.

Get top players looking forward to playing at Tiger Stadium.

One of the biggest mistakes LSU has made was to let the Top 28 get away from the PMAC. It used to be a big honor to make it to the PMAC.

BREAKING: LHSAA votes to allow Select schools to hold FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS at the site of their choosing. YES that means no more Dome for Select (unless they arrange to play there). #nolaprep

They're going to beg the Private schools to play in the Dome.

96 was the last year. Parkview's fab 5 were Sophomores and lost in OT to Karr. Then it moved to the Cajundome and Parkview crushed arse in 97 and 98.

somehow I think the nonselects will be okay... no nonselect is getting to the Dome without a dedicated fan base that will show up in force for their day in the Dome. Instead of an unwieldy 9 games, it can return to a more manageable 5

Good! the LHSAA and most of those bums that work there. They’re just there to collect a check. Another typical Louisiana good ol boy politics organization.

Now the LHSAA will start to see where and who actually brings value ($$$$$) and who doesn’t. Next step is to have a complete break away from the corrupt LHSAA.

Which might happen.

But when the lady from Winnsboro, I think it is, said she was against splitting the playoffs, that told me everything I needed to know. They want the select schools money and influence, but none of their control.

4 select games at LSU/Yulman/ULL/wherever will outdraw 5 non-select games at the Dome. Book it.

ill probably take that bet... nonselects have the advantage due to A. No John Curtises or evangels or Lafayette Christians who will take a spot in title games with little fanbase to speak of.

B. All nonselect games will be under a roof and in one place

C. The media with more LHSAA backing will continue to promote the Dome games as the true state championships, and ignore the far flung select title games

D. Selects will charge Dome prices for games in venues that don't compare

In December you have about a 50-50 shot at it being raining, cold, or both. Not conducive to big crowds outdoors.
