BREAKING: LHSAA votes to allow Select schools to hold FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS at the site of their choosing. YES that means no more Dome for Select (unless they arrange to play there). #nolaprep

Basketball vote means LHSAA will have to decide in April how to bid out and handle select/nonselect basketball championships #LHSAA @AdvocateSports

Today seems like a good day to remember, as @Coachblackespn pointed out, Kenny Henderson once said, "there's nothing wrong with a bad proposal passing and fixing it later" when he was LHSAA Executive Director.

If we are going to have two separate systems for playoffs, there is no reason whatsoever that they need to be tied together.

I would rather the split not happen at all. But if it will... I have no problem with these proposals.

All of this non-sense because we let some Class B, non-football schools vote on a split.

LHSAA Marketing Director Mitch Small said long time sponsors express that they might leave if split continues. Sugar Bowl contract says they have right to alter its decision to sponsor Says sponsors may reevaluate status. Could impact future sponsors. #LHSAA @AdvocateSports

I imagine this is going to be fairly painful to smaller non select schools. But this was always the next step for select schools IMO.

smaller schools actually have more in common with each other and are more on the same page than their larger counterparts

There are two separate rules for private and public school athletics. If they want one championship for each class then they need to have the exact same rules for athletics for private and public. They don’t have the same rules and private schools refused to change. Keep the split. Texas has separate state champions for public and private schools. It is not that uncommon.

The publics refused to charge students as well. They were unfairly letting all kids go for free

They also refused the rule of “providing an education worth a shite”

You do realize some public school districts do not have by the same attendance requirements as other public school districts ?

All I know is the last two football select games, the weather outside was not very conducive to staging them. Torrential rain this year and icy conditions in 2017.

It's nice to have the weather controlled dome to play those games both for players and fans.

Do they want to sponsor all they're paying customers at the select championships, or do they want to sponsor all of the plaintiffs in the non-select championship?

I kid.

That will be interesting.

A student is assigned to a public high school and then he/she will be prohibited from playing sports at their high school because of where they live? I see lawsuits being filed.

The Basketball selects are sick of waiting around for public’s to finish for 2 weeeks before they can start playoffs. They could be done 2 weeks earlier if this is the system forced upon them.
