This play together in regular, split for playoffs is insane. I'm to the point where it needs to be all or none. Either you keep everyone together through the playoffs, or, you just split the association into private and public schools. If they are not good enough to play together in the playoffs, why are they good enough to play together in the regular season.

Also, I would not be surprised if Bonine told them all to go to hell tomorrow.

Yes they were trying to go ahead and split the basketball playoff this year. Looks like they are realizing that will make for venue difficulties.

And it begins... at least it's plausible that a big time player might transfer to us, as opposed to a rich white boy private school...

This is such a basic thing. And these are people not only running our athletic association, but our schools. How scary is that?

Todays the date for the votes I think.

Any predictions?

If I had to guess based on nothing in particular I'd say they'll stay with the status quo. 2nd most likely? Maybe the split only in A=AAA. 3rd? Maybe the Superclass thing.

I think all sports will be split, and next year those split people won't be happy...

Just remember before you blame Booker and Griffin for this look back to 2004 and see who was behind shoving
JC and ECA down to 1a and 2a.... for the next 9 years....

that created the environment for the current cluster...

those 4-5 principals share more of the blame...

Coach/AD I know well thinks it's a pretty good chance for complete split.

Would we have a split if John Curtis never existed?

Two principals started this several years ago. Ironically one of them from Airline where the meetings are currently on going. Kim Gaspard hated Evangel whipping that arse and taking a few players.

the old ECA had surpassed them as a problem,
hence the juggernaut of 5a principals that voted them back down to 1a

so yes

I doubt it. People throw Evangel in there and I see why but they never dominated for the extreme length of time that Curtis did. And when Calvary split off I think they took a small step back. Plus they played all the way up when allowed to do so.

So I think if there was never a Curtis putting a stranlehold on the classes they were in for 2+ decades there would never had been a split.

2 in NW LA

3-4 in NOLA

2 in NE LA...

all very politically connected at the time....

I don't "feel for him," he came into this with his eyes open, but these people have done him dirty. I agree with you, and in a way I hope he does it. Big press conference, make the announcements of what the "education professionals" have decided, then call them all stupid in clear language, that even ESPN will hear. I hate for this, especially football, for almost 100 years, we've had some classic games, and playoff runs, and now they're going to blow it all to hell.

You too, Owl?
I thought much more highly of you, than to be this blatantly homer, and stereotypical to boot. As someone who takes discussion here pretty seriously, and I've enjoyed these past six years with my kids being in h.s. and participating in some ways, I've found you to be enthusiastic and informative.

I am disappoint. That you would paint us all into such a rhetorical corner, even those of us who are stretched to the financial breaking point to send our kids to the school they wish to attend, and that I wish for them to attend. That jibe is unfair, and patently ridiculous.

what led to this present state had just as much to do with ECA as JC at the 2004 meetings.

ECA was more blatant in their recruiting.

@FooteNote At the LHSAA convention, it's a sad, sad day. It wouldn't shock me if we end up splitting in all sports the way some are talking.

Because Oklahoma and Texas didn't have any authority over Evangel.
