Congratulations West Monroe on your perfect season, a #1 seed in the playoffs, and a 5-touchdown victory in your first round game!

Now you have to drive past Baton Rouge for round two because "it wouldn't be fair" if Dutchtown didn't get a home game!

But on the Dutchtown side, I can't believe they are still alive considering the 2016 trainwreck season and their starting QB being out for the season. Mistretta must be the real thing.

Thanks man, West Monroe had a few battles this year, especially with our district rivals Ouachita and Ruston.

Wow, that sucks for Dutchtown to lose their starting QB. What happened to Coach Saia for Dutchtown?

I can't believe how bad Central was, Coach Sid Edwards usually has some good teams.

We need to regionalize the playoffs again... Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest...

why regionalize? Travel would be the only reason but La is a small state so even that is no big deal

looking at the map, is there an easy way to get from Monroe to Dutchtown? that looks very inconvenient

Sure. You leave WM on I-20. Get off at Rayville. Go through 10 or so tiny towns/villages, all of which are speed traps where the speed limit drops to 35, leave the state, travel through Natchez, MS, through Woodville, St Francisville, Baton Rouge traffic-hopefully not near 5 o’clock-and straight into Dutchtown. Roughly 3.5 hours or so later.

What’s not easy about that?

I don't know specifics beyond he got hurt in the 1st quarter of the Catholic game 3 weeks ago. They run more Wildcat now and teams probably weren't gameplanning for that.

Benny Saia retired last year after they missed the playoffs for the first time ever. The NFL pipeline has gone dry but somehow Mistretta is winning.

Well it is... It would save lots of money for games that don't need to happen until later on in the playoffs. You should have to earn the right to go across the state

You left a small part out.

So you're doing 70mph in a 65mph zone closing in on Sicily Island, LA. , You see a sign that says "Speed Zone Ahead". 10 yards after that, "55". 10 yards after that, "45". 10 yards after that, "35". Now you are standing on your brake and black smoke is pouring off your back tires. And when Barney pulls you over in "downtown" Sicily Island he tells you he clocked you doing 52mph in a 35mph zone.

IMO, no #1 seed should have to travel. There should be some kind of "reward" for obtaining that feat.

That trip Monroe to LSU netted me quite a few tickets

Is it feasible to go Ruston, down 167, catch 49 in Alexandria, and then go 190 in Opelousas? I don't recall anything on 167 that could get you a ticket past Jonesboro/Hodge and Winnfield.

BTW, I live in Ascension and have seen Dutchtown a few times in person and on TV this year. They play the good teams pretty competitively. They lost to Covington by 6 and were stopped on the 1 on the final play of the game. They gave St. Amant their only loss. They lost by 10 against EA but had a 12-0 lead at one point in the game.

The only game they laid an egg in against a competitive team was Catholic, but they lost their QB in the 1st quarter, and that was the night that the coldfront came in. There was a lightning delay in the 2nd quarter and they played the rest of the game in the rain.

Dutchtown played Central early in the season and beat them by 27.

West Monroe should pull away eventually, but it might be close for a while if the new QBs can play.

You’re adding 30 minutes just to get to Ruston. Now you could go through Chatham and hit 167 that way. That’s how we have to go to Natchitoches. If I’m going to add 30 minutes for convenience, I’m going to Vicksburg and down to Hammond. Straight interstate and I don’t have to go through the 1950’s tour...

The last time a #1 West Monroe traveled to a #17 seed, we (Ponchatoula) ended their season.

To me that would be the best route for ease of driving. Those small town speed traps suck. That’s what I love about Texas, I take 2 lane highways from the Pendleton bridge all the way to Marlin on my way to Waco. 75 mph limit all most tge entire route and never any cops.

That game still gives me nightmares. WM better come ready to play or it will happen again.
