Maybe Arch has a shot if LCA moved up a division. He’s not winning one if LCA is still D3 and even if they moved up, he still has to deal with St. Charles Catholic

LCA moved up, but they still have to beat Riverside and St Charles.

Newman ain’t winning a state championship. They just aren’t built that way.

I guess then we’ll see if Arch is as good as everyone says he is… because the #1 player in the country pretty much IS supposed to will his team to a state championship, especially if it’s not the highest one in that state.

Newman beating a very large public school in that manner like hahnville is a pretty big deal

Not at all. Hahnville is small, has no QB (lost starter early in Jamboree with torn ACL), and poorly conditioned from the looks of it last night. They have a bunch of decent young RB’s but no line. Newman was bigger on the lines and better coached.

Manning didn’t look great, he made one real good throw on the run but that was it. The TE/DE Randle is their best player

What does Mooney hooked for Horne mean?

Reese Mooney. 3 star QB committed to Liberty. Removed from the game and replaced by Sophomore Jerry Horne.

Turns out Mooney was actually injured in the first half and was held out.

Newman has like 350 kids in their high school. Hahnville is prob one of the 10-15 biggest high schools in the state. I don’t really care about the particulars of their team. That’s a big win for Newman

Ruston

Seems to play a brutal schedule every year and tends to play competitive. Always seems to lose in the quarter finals. Plenty of talent in Lincoln parish but the good ones don't seem to want to play football.

If Newman were a public school 2A school, then I think the argument holds more weight. Small private schools beat much larger public schools all time time (Curtis, Evangel, Calvary). They have two of the top talents in the state. Is it a big win for the Newman players and fans? Probably. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s not that big of a win.

Schools with 45 state titles between them ? Lol

Newman has a few legit D1 players every 6-7 years. They aren’t John Curtis or 1990s evangel. That is completely ridiculous

They don’t play big 5A schools like this hardly ever, much less a beat them. Especially a big football-centric school like Hahnville

Arch was 8 of 14 passes for 142 yards. I mean how can that be the best overall QB in the nation? Those stat lines in high school should pretty much never happen

St. Michael may not win a game this year. Ton of kids playing in wrong positions. Real bad football

I have no clue what newmans skill players look like

But from a pure talent standpoint he’s a firm 4 star top 150 guy.

The Manning name sells though. I get it

It was a big win

Arch didn’t have a great stat line but Hahnville isn’t that great.

Newman showed their hand last night even with Arch not putting up great numbers.

Now SCC, Riverside, Many etc know who to target. The best player on the team is by far no doubt Will Randle. However, not sure how he will fit in at Texas. I see him transferring to a school where he will play. He’s only going to Texas bc of Arch. And before you say that Randall committed before Arch, that was the plan.

They have 4 legit D1 players this year. Possibly a few more.

SMHS hasn’t put a competitive football team on the field since Smokin’ Joe Scimeca was principle and Eric Held ran the program. Ms. Lee (current principle) doesn’t really support football

Well Ricky Collins is committed to a school that is really good at football too. He’s not the QB that Manning is, but of his few completions on Thursday only 1 was downfield. The rest were swing passes to RB.

Some of these guys will face REALLY good defenses and not light up the stat sheet.
