With a bunch of the 5As moving to D1 this year, just give Zachary the trophy now.

Non-select Classes 5A, 4A, 3A and 2A shall be seeded 1-32 and Class 1A shall be seeded 1-24 according to their power rating. All select teams, with the exception of Division IV shall be seeded 1-16 according to their power rating. Division IV shall be seeded 1-24.

One guess as to why they are that high.

SCC doesn't belong that high either. They are down this year. These rankings are purely on name recognition and what happened last year.

They sure did beat the crap outta Ponchatoula the other night. Ponchatoula will definitely have a down year, but still impressive to beat up on a 5A school, even if it is just a jamboree.

I may very well be wrong, my info is second hand.

It is from a friend(who definitely knows football) with two sons on the SCC team and a few players on U High. U High and SCC scrimmage every year before the season.

I was told from U High that their defense isn't nearly what it was a year ago.

I mean they prolly aren’t as good as last years team, but I think they’ll still be able to compete in D3. It’ll be either SCC, ND, Newman, or Calvary.

Hammond, independence, etc are now select? Is that bc they are magnet schools?

I’m not very familiar with what Calvary has but from what I’ve heard ND has a solid group this year. I’d expect to see SCC figure it out. If there ever was a chance for Newman it would be this year with LCA gone and Arch being a senior

So we agree. I said they were down, not bad.

They will always compete.

Add Dunham to that group.

or open enrollment.

quote:

The LHSAA Executive Committee voted earlier in the summer to redefine the term Select to include all lab schools, magnet schools, schools with magnet components, charter schools, parishes that allow open enrollment at all its public schools and tuition-based schools

An initial list of designated Select schools was released shortly after, which is reflected in the current power ratings below.

The LHSAA Executive Committee is scheduled to hear and decided on appeals on September 7 & 8 from those schools that feel they should be Non-Select. When we received an updated list of Non-Select & Select designations, we will update ASAP on this website.

I see UHigh is ranked one in their division. I know they won it last year. It looks like they have a pretty tough schedule playing Catholic and Rummel. Do they have a lot returning from last years team?

Just get rid of the split.

Various groups, coalitions of voters, factions have been trying to do just that for ten years, now.

Too many of these principals like it this way, and/or ignore their coaches and ADs who want to end the split playoffs.
