we already have a private school open where Lynn Oaks is that's now going up to high school, but it will be 1A at best if it's even in the LHSAA and not MAIS...
long term, the capacity of the CHS site is 2800 and we're at 2100 right now. Most likely our next high school will be a 3A or 4A school where St. Bernard Middle currently is (all the old St. Bernard High facilities are still there). The district line would be everything past the Meraux refinery as down the road hasn't came back like Arabi and Chalmette.

They totally need to open a school down the road again.
Totally screwed up the dynamic of high school sports in the Parish when they shut down St. Bernard High, Hannan moved, and then Holy Cross moved.

it's been 15 years now... the glory days you seem to remember lasted from 1987 when Hannan was opened until 8-29-05

Too bad, Chalmette was a fun school when it was 3A/4A
All went down hill after getting up to 5A (unless you consider winning Jefferson parish public school league games an accomplishment)

I umpired a game at Chalmette recently and went across the street after to Goody's. I saw someone with that uniform on and that told me it was at the old Lynn Oaks.

It has to suck for any kids that live in Shell Beach or Delacroix having to commute to CHS everyday.
