List of Recommendations:
1. 5 Non-Select & 5 Select Divisions for the sport of Football (also suggested combining Select 4A and 5A)
2. Charter schools without a select admissions policy be removed from the Select School category.
3. Review of current residence & transfer rules that proposes attendance zones shall be parish lines.
4. Consideration of the use of a playoff success factor for each classification cycle.
5. To allow a school to play up in any higher classification.
6. For Football change from 5 classifications to 4 divisions. (This would need to be voted on by principals in Jan & wouldn't apply to 2013.)
7. Schools which provide financial aid to students must use an approved financial aid processing service.
8. Secure necessary budgetary funding to hire a private detective to conduct investigations.
9. Have random, unannounced rules compliance visits.
10. Violations reported during the 10day period prior to end of reg season until end of championships won't be conducted until end of champs.
11. Student-athletes shall not be allowed to compete in the same sport at 2 different schools in the same sports season.
1. this will be a go.. unless curtis goes to 4a - 5a then.. well.. you know what will happen
2. makes sense
3. just make them all open
4. yeah. that will be fairly enforced
5. 5A will shoot this down..... but god save the catholic leauge
6. wait a minute.....
7. yeah ok.. what about parents or supporters that provide it.
8. a.. detective.. just one...
9.... address verification....
10. hmmm so let's not punish the cheaters.. till AFTER they claim their trophy
11. wait a minute.. hold on...

10 days before playoffs... speak now or forever hold your peace
if they're cheating they gotta give the trophy back anyhow...

Not an ideal solution, but sure better than the girls basketball clusterfrick this past season.

The LHSAA has awarded championships sites for the next two years:
- Both the boys and girls Top 28 will be in Lake Charles at Burton Coliseum. All semifinal and championship games will now be in Lake Charles.
- All seven classes of baseball state championships will be in Sulphur at McMurray Park.

Not familiar with the area.. how nice of a facility is McMurray?

Its more like natural recruiting. If your a big time athlete And live in the area. Your gunna want to go to a top notch program. Not like coaches are coming to your house giving you recruiting pitches

Solution to every problem.. although it won't happen due to politics

What's the capacity/seating situation?

People get way to worked up over this crap. If you're a true public school with no magnet program unless you can get the kids to move into district your screwed. I understand down south why parents want their kids to get a private education, but up here there are plenty of solid public schools.
I see a lot of HS finally have a team with some talent just to get bounced by private schools in the quarters and semi's every year. B/c the over all talent on the team or depth just isn't there.
Hell in 3A alone, Baseball two private schools shut out two publics in the simi's to play eachother, and in football Parkview was so much better than everyone else it was stupid.....even the other private school in the Dome.

This may be true for some small town public school, but it is absolutely false for any public school in Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Alexandria and Monroe. I have watched the public schools from these cities win state championships yearly with athletes I know don't live in their zones. I know this was proposed by a principal from a small town school, however, the traditional powers in public schools will still win every year. This just dilutes the playoffs and makes them a hell of a lot less interesting.
I agree with everyone that said this will lead to a split up of the LHSAA. I bet those small town principals aren't going to be too happy when those special athletes come along and there is nobody policing a big money man from the private school 15 minutes away stealing him away.

We were already hosting 4 classes with no problems. 3 high school fields, all with turf I fields. I think they will prob start playing on Wed and play thru Sat. There is a 4th field that could have an outfield fence moved and turf laid down for another field if they want. That would essentially give us a quad of high school baseball fields very similar to the softball complex just laid out a little differently. Sulphur is very excited about this announcement and is looking forward to hosting a first class event.

Tornation. No doubt sulphur can and will continue to host super events!
Only problem is distance to hotels.....otherwise first class op

If the parish line is the cutoff, so a kid can go to any school he wants inside his parish, why split public and private? Just make the kid stay at the school he attends his fressm year so they can't flip flop schools. Then all schools will be on even playing field.

What do you mean, area is saturated with them. Have you stayed here for high school bsseball championships and had problems finding a room? There are probably 20 hotels within 15-20 min max including the 2 casinos. Even with all 7 classes all teams prob won't be here at same time so shouldn't be a problem.

Tor there were folks last year that had to stay in Jennings and iowa

If that's the park where Lutcher played the 4A title game this year, it was pretty good. I mean, it wasn't Yankee stadium but I had no complaints about it. Field was very nice and they had ample shade in the stands.
For the discussion about hotel rooms: I think the Lake Charles and Sulfur areas host a ton of youth tournaments (USAAA, etc). I would think they wouldn't schedule those during State Championship week but if they do that could definitely impact the hotel situation.

For the state high school baseball tournament? Last year there are only 16 teams in town for the tournament with the 4 classes.

With the stunts the LHSAA are pulling today, I wonder if they got together in December in a private meeting and asked each other "Hey, what is the most ridiculous ideas we can come up with to make sure the LHSAA falls apart soon?"
