Does the 1 seed play at home all the way through? Used to i thought they had to travel once. Someone said it was changed for this year.

It’s possible, but they can travel in the quarterfinals

The rules are for the first round higher seed hosts. The second round rules are the team that has traveled is at home unless their opponent had a bye. Quarterfinals are based on who has traveled the most is the home team. Semis is the highest seed host.

So if Benton beats Walker, West Monroe would travel to Benton in around 2 and host Ruston should both be in the Quarterfinals.
Hmmmm….

East Acension being left out should be a wake up call for Darnell Lee. The toughest schedule in 5A is great if you win a couple of those hard games. De La Salle was their only good win. Quit scheduling Zachary, West Monroe and Destrehan non district and do like St Amant and play Jefferson Rise Charter, Carver and Booker T. Wins mean more than schedule strength, plus you're less beat up heading into District. The District improved greatly this year, so they didn't need to load up out of District games like the ones they played.

Oh well, I'll be watching my 10-0 Hooks Hornets or the 10-0 Pleasant Grove Hawks hopefully go far.

Holy Cross #1 overall seed and Karr #5 in Division I Select?

Didn't Karr win the District and have a better record along with head to head win over Holy Cross?

Haven't followed high school football too closely, this year, and been a really long time since I paid any attention to power rating scores.

What can you tell me about Episcopal? Good offense

Wing T offense- one running back that can fly, he gets in the open field you will not catch him. Another running back is tough inside runner. QB isn't a good passer.

Well coached defense and plays hard, but nothing stands out

No, undersized if anything.

Holy Cross’s non-district opponents had much better records than Karr’s non-district opponents. That’s the difference.

That’s crazy they didn’t make it. EA was the 3rd or 4th best team on WM’s schedule. They would easily beat many teams that are in the playoffs. They would destroy Ouachita and West Ouachita imo.

Makes sense. I forgot all about the formulas and power ratings.

Did not follow high school football much, this year, other than checking scores on the Catholic League here and there, but had seen Karr undefeated (prior to the blowout loss to Curtis last week) and knew they had beaten Holy Cross earlier in the year, so just thought it was weird to see such a discrepancy in seeding when the brackets came out yesterday.

Knew I could get an explanation here.

How bad you lose to someone has no bearing on your power rating. The only thing that matters is that you lost. As previously mentioned, the non-district opponents played the primary role in the difference in power ratings.

Is 5A down this year? I am trying figure how in the hell Ponchatoula is the 23 seed? We are not good at all. Play at Chalmette, I expect us to get smoked.

ASH did similar, losses to Carencro, STM, WM and Ruston. The WM and Ruston losses were both close games.

Provided ASH gets past Bonnabel, I see the Brother Martin ASH game in rd 2 to be a heck of a game.

Hey Colonels, first time since 1999 Hahnville doesn't even make the playoffs. Do you think a coaching change is coming?

They put Pineville in the playoffs. 2-8, 0-5 in district, losing all games by a combined 200 something to 35 or so...........

They are just awful. But in the playoffs. There is just no rationale that makes that right.

I hope so. I was at the Terrebonne game. This team needed to win for a chance at the playoffs, but you would have never known that from the mood on the sideline. Zero sense of urgency. Coaches spending more time staring at tablets than watching the game. I saw 1 coach yell, one time the entire game.

I did hear from someone relatively close to the program that rumors are swirling. If a change happens, it needs to be the entire staff. They need to clean house and completely change the demeanor of the program.

Karr (7-2, 5-1), which dropped from No. 2 to No. 5, will take on the No. 12 Huntington (7-3)/No. 2 Woodlawn-Baton Rouge (3-7) winner.

How the heck is Woodlawn the 2 seed with a 3-7 record?
