Aug plays very well as a team. And they hit their free throws. Every time. Extremely tough to beat a team that does that.

You are talking about Jordan Snead. He is no longer with the program and hasn't been for maybe a month. The linchpin to this team has been #3 D'Vante Jones ever since. Handles the ball very well and he can score. The kid with the headband if you watched them play.

Got'cha. Not sure what happened to Snead but that is unfortunate. Last game I saw was Jesuit at Aug. D'Vante is a very good player. He is one of those players that just does everything right on the court. He will have 2-3 plays a game that will win it for you.

New coach brought in some discipline. Helped big time.
And yes the football team still sucks.

Overall talent, the best player is Quade Williams and 3-4 other guys who can all put it on the floor and get to the hoop. First district championship since 1975.

FCA (class C) disappointing me with a seeding of 14.

No reason we shouldn't be running class C.

Like Boom said, Quade Williams is the leader for this team, but they've been good this year as well as last year and should be for at least a couple more years because they're balanced scoring. We have 4-5 guys that can pick up the slack if anyone is having an off night.

too bad they don't have any football talent...

Then how would you know? CL's problem isn't lack of talent, it's lack of depth for the moment (but that's about to change), and running a spread offense without a QB. Football could be much MUCH better though if the basketball kids would come out to play.

Right now only 2 Basketball players play football and they're the 2 best football players we have.

Anfernee Poindexter 6'0 175 lbs CB and Starting PG

Dereon Thomas 6'0 235 lbs MLB and JV BBALL Player

Quindon Charles the 6'3 175lbs SG played football as a freshman and was a beast before he decided to play just basketball.

Quade Williams came out for football last spring and was a beast at WR then come fall he's not playing anymore.

Like I said that's changing though. CL was young last year and return more starters than anyone else in district with 17. Menard's building the team slowly from the ground up, this year we had 50 freshman which is double of what we have ever had and he's getting the young BBall players to play football too. Next year there are two freshmen that should have breakout years at WR one is 6'2 160 and other 6'0 155 already.

Anyway back to basketball. I'm so happy for these kids. So happy they've stuck with it all these years and I'm thankful for the new coach who was able to focus them.

Prep wins running away. Arcadia has the best shot.

Didn't stop them last year.

Still, Madison Prep is the team to beat. CD has no outstanding big so I doubt they repeat.

Spoke with Coach Mitch just recently, told me Vino at Cox now.. Dumb shite went down with a bunch of sophs at AUG.. He was pissed about that...

DJ will be one of the top PG in the state...

We did have that big FR Isaiah Lewis playing Varsity but he needed some fine tuning, so Mitch moved him to the 9th grade squad...

Rapides plays General Trass and if they win it sets up a nice possible rematch with Rosepine. Rosepine is a pretty dirty team that tried their tricks earlier against the Mustangs. People got thrown out. I'm ready though, I thoroughly enjoyed talking so much smack to all the OGs from Many last week.

i'm gonna have to tell my boy Jude to go do some recruiting work on the basketball team... lol...

Prep is one of the two best teams in the entire state along with Riverside. CD, although really well coached and play very good, can't hang with prep.

Is he from the Westbank? I coached a kid by the same name a couple of years ago in biddy. He was a good kid never had any problems with him. I think he would be a sophomore this year

Then you know there's talent just not enough depth YET. We would have beaten ESJ who's one of the more talented teams in the state, in regulation if our kicker wasn't injured (missed game winning extra point, then lost in ot). We put up 300 yards of offense on Hahnville, we hung with Destrehan for 3 quarters then tired out. Then the year before we were a playoff team if we didn't play the entire year with our 4th string QB after losing the first 3 by week 2.

Like I said, we're a good QB or hell just halfway decent QB play away from being a good team. I think the Allemand kid should be starting, he's much more talented and comes from some of the best QB bloodlines CL has had, but Menard seems to like Aucoin so hopefully he can improve he's ok just not consistent.

There's enough playing already to be a good team, but yeah we could always be better if our best guys would play. Quindon Charles, Quaid Williams, Lionel Baptiste are good basketball players but probably not D1 college players. If they played football for 4 years though they'd be D1 recruits especially Charles who'd likely be a major recruit. Like I said though Menard's been building from the ground up, he's been building relationships with the kids while they're in junior high and playing bantam, so each year he gets more and more kids to come out for the team.

Back to basketball. I just went watch Parkway's hudl videos, they seem to have some good height that could give us trouble and it looks like they can score a bunch. CL looks faster more athletic though. This should be an exciting fast paced shootout.
