I'm sure everyone's seen the videos on youtube of the longest Homeruns hit in the history of baseball.

The videos I saw were up to 2015 with the bombs Giancarlos Stanton hit that year.the oldest were from reggie jackson.
The furthest recorded that I've seen on those videos are from reggie jackson ,Cecil fielder, kirk Gibson, Adam Dunn mark Trumbo, mark McGwire, stanton, barry bonds, and josh Hamilton. they didnt have it updated to the era of judge.

The furthest were jackson and Gibson I think jackson hit one 527 feet.

My question is,can some of the old school baseball fans give me some stories theyve heard of babe Ruth's longest ones. Am I missing any that were hit further or guys who pre dated the jackson era?

Im just hoping for This to be just a fun story telling thread . So I wasnt gonna link any videos from youtube. Everyone knows that you can find some on their

The issue with that era is the distances are probable inaccurate. Isn’t it claimed that Mantle hit one 600ft?

Ruth cracked four home runs, including what is deemed to be the longest in World Series history, a 510-foot blast. He still holds the record for longest home run in World Series history

I wish they’d bring back that home run derby show from the 60’s.

Dave Kingman has to be on the list. Look up the vid of the one he blasted well over Waveland Av and that may have not been the longest one he hit at Wrigley.

He hit a monster one in Whittington Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was during Spring Training. It landed at an alligator farm. The farm still exists. There’s remnants of cement bleachers on a small hillside that borders a parking lot. They have markers for home plate and a plaque describing the event.

They've lowered it to like 540-550 feet. It was at USC. The craziest thing is he was 19 when he hit it.

I still think Mantle and Ruth are the longest homerun hitters on average, although they don't have the benefit of the tracking hitters do today

Galarraga's bomb in Miami is my favorite. He hit that ball 530 feet at sea level.

Galarraga goes upper deck

He almost hit that ball out of Joe Robbie Stadium, which is absolutely incredible to think about.

I don't think anyone consistently hit a baseball farther than Mark McGwire did. Were there a few blasts longer than his longest? Probably, but that boils down to conditions and catching it perfectly. That being said, the Canseco upper decker in the skydome may be the hardest hit ball in history.

I agree, but I'll throw Jim Thome out there as well. Consistently hit dingers into the nether regions.

Hardest home run I ever saw was Sammy Sosa in old Riverfront Stadium Cincy 1998 season. Hit the second level of seating on a line drive and looked (to me at least) like the ball was still on an incline. I'm sure it wasn't, but still.

Just based on science alone, anyone doing strength training today getting a hold of one of these 98 mph fastballs has to be sending it for a ride, though.

It hasnt been mentioned but look up the Glenallen Hill homerun at Wrigley Field. Landed on a fricking rooftop of a building across Waveland Avenue. Height of the steroid era
