SEC is the best because their best are better.

But their bottom is as bad as any bottom.

The SEC is no longer "top to bottom" the toughest conference...they're Top to top the toughest conference.

And this "SEC guantlet" bullshite is a fraud. I've posted their schedules today and OOC games...70% are against joke schools.

Georgia's schedule is a joke...seriously, why should Georgia be ranked ahead of Oregon? The difference between #1 ND and Oregon is the length of a football...see ND/Stanford game...and yet the SEC one loss champ is automatic in the title game?

Alabama played two tough teams and went 1-1.

What bothers people is the fairness and presumption in the selection process because your very best beat another conference's very best....in ONE GAME...in past years.

Everyone ignore the regular-season conference vs. conference head-to-head records and just points to the BCS title game...and has cloudy memories and assumes they have all been blow-outs.

That's the problem with college football. There is far more parity than people want to realize...the SEC bottom-dwellers and mid-level teams aren't anything special.

SEC is the best because of 2-3 teams...not because of the conference as a whole.

It's more than two teams, it's six teams.

And the bottom the SEC has been pretty solid in years past, just not the last two years. Especially not this year.

I don't think the majority of SEC fans are saying ND would have 6 losses or that nobody else could come in and compete. Only trolls or really low football IQ people say that.

But it is equally simplistic to deduce that A&M, who was a 6-6 team in the Big-12, coming in and competing somehow exposes the SEC as a fraud. You're really using the same simplistic method as those SEC fans.

I mean, if Nick Saban had taken over at A&M would we say they wouldn't compete? No. But historically A&M has been just above average in the Big-12. That's the only thing we have to base the future on. Turns out Sumlin is a damned good coach and JFF is unlike anything we've ever seen.

and for the record A&M is not 3rd in the SEC West, they are tied for 2nd. The SEC does not use tiebreakers to designate placing, only who would go to the SEC CG. This is why official SEC record books do show Ole Miss as 2003 SEC West Champs and LSU for 96 and 97.

And this thread pops up the day after two teams in the East - who will not rep in the SECCG - just beat two top 12, one-loss BCS bowl caliber teams on the road.

I mean, we're spinning our wheels here.

who is everyone?

This board is starting to live on the extremes. Either the SEC is an overrated mess or it's the NFL lite.

I'd say they played 3 high level sec teams and went 1-2. Didn't expose much.

OP, how about a mid-level Big 12 team called Missouri that went 2-6 in SEC play?

Wasn't their starting QB injured most of the season?

Thats really where all arguments draw their fuel.

Granted, there are SEC fans that claim some of that stuff, but they are the extreme.

On the other extreme, A&M - with a new coach and a Heisman candidate - coming in and competing somehow exposes the SEC as a fraud.

blah blah blah A&M was third. if they would have beat LSU and same stuff happened id say LSU finished 3rd. not tied for second with a team that beat them

I think its safe to say with an injured QB Missouri would be 2-6 in the Big 12

I absolutely LOVE the Big 12/SEC haters talking point about the fact that Arkansas needed a 2nd half rally to beat A&M because it shows how insanely myopic these people are. Newsflash Big 12 fans/SEC haters, your all world most deserving 2011 Okie State team ALSO needed a furious second half rally to edge out A&M last year. If anything those games showed that 2011 Oklahoma State and 2011 Arkansas were practically the same team.

Why wouldn't they play a full schedule?

good not great a&m teamproved that.

How? They played 3 legit teams and went 1-2.

Florida was close. Driskell got limited time last year and the game was in College Station. They lost.

They got LSU at home as well. LSU played an insanely sloppy game and still won.

They beat Bama who has played as weak a schedule as you could hope for. Were they #1? Sure, but most people with a brain realized this wasn't last years Alabama squad.

I'm not saying A&M hasn't had a great season but you're coming off like they just mowed down everyone in the conference when they really didn't.

No one expected a&m to do anything

They came in and crushed the buildings

Like I said before they would have 2 possibly 3 losses in the crappy big 12
