Even excluding Team USA games early in World Cup from 2014 and 2010, Fox Sports (Fox, FS1) is down around 39% and 14%, respectively. Cannot be the numbers that were expected when Fox ponied up big for this event. Just not enough buzz domestically

Bloomberg says World Cup television viewership in the U.S. is down 44 percent from 2014 for Fox and Telemundo. Not unexpected given the absence of the U.S. and the time zone dif. What will be interesting to see are the comps come semifinals and finals.

FOX's coverage sucks

FOX has put half of the matches on FS1, a channel most people don't have

Afternoon vs morning games. USA vs no USA.

Yeah, I'd imagine game times are big factor.

This has a ton to due with time difference. Last year there was at least one game close to prime time every day. Every week day game this year is during the work day.

Also while most everyone has FS1 most don’t even know it’s there. Outside of Pac12 football there is never any sports of note. It was easy to find on ESPN.

Globally, the World Cup averaged over 3 billion viewers in 2010 and in 2014.

The US ratings may suck, but the World Cup is undeniably the most popular sporting event in the world.

Ironically I have FS1 and not local Fox. Stupid PS VUE lost the rights last month. I guess I should get a HD antenna.

I’d like to watch as much of this World Cup as possible, but being in the pacific time zone it’s almost impossible for me to watch anything during the week.

All DirecTV packages have it except the Select package (which is the most basic one).

I'm sure Dish is similar. So yeah there are some. But I know Sling carries it. I would think most ppl have access to it though unless they've just completely cut off tv.

Bars around St. Pete were PACKED for most matches 4 years ago. There's a concert venue called Jannus Live downtown that is in the middle of a block of bars and accessible from most of them.

All the bars around it would be PACKED and they had TVs and projection screens set up inside Jannus and it was a madhouse. Soccer fans in their jerseys and team's colors were everywhere.

You wouldn't even know the World Cup was going on this year.

Right, I would think so. I have Directv Now and I have it. I had it when I had Cox, too.

I seriously haven't sat down to watch a single second of it.

Not that I hate the World Cup, because 2014 was awesome when watching the games in bars. I just can't get into it when I have ZERO rooting interest in any other team.
