I was taught 25+ years ago when I started playing baseball is to try to learn the signals from the opposing teams we played and actually went to watch them play on one our off nights. We had a 12 team league where we all played on the same field.

That was fricking little league baseball
Same with High School. It’s part of the fricking game.

So can someone please explain to me how the Astros cheated in baseball? I’m not an Astros fan, but what did they do to become labeled Cheaters?

I think people are blowing this shite way out of proportion.

Unless they had hidden microphones and shite in the dougouts and locker room and pull pins, etc... every baseball team on the fricking planet steals singles.

Why is it ok for football and basketball teams study tape all day long.

I want to know, how did they cheat?

By the way, I’m a Braves fan and DGAF about Houston.

Everybody says the are cheaters but I can’t figure out why

This is ducking stupid and ridiculous

Every fricking team in every single sport always finds ways to cheat.

They broke the rules to gain an advantage. Simple as that.

You’re overthinking this.

They had a camera in the outfield.

Normally, a team knows you can steal signs when there’s a guy on second. They know if the catcher doesn’t hide the signs well enough the dugout or base coaches can steal signs. If they catch a batter looking back at the signs in an AB, they call time and nail him.

If you don’t know there’s a camera watching you flash signs and relaying the signs to the batter - it is cheating.

And I’m an Astros fan.

When you went up to bat, did you receive any signals from your coaching staff to let you know what pitch was coming?

Are you suggesting that Astros players have grenades thrown at them now?

For frick's sake, I despise the Astros but I can't wait for the season to actually start so we can talk about something else.

It's not about sign stealing. It's the fact that they used cameras in real time to do it.

It's really blown way out of proportion.

Will Clark basically laughed about the whole thing.

Knowing what type of pitch is coming is an advantage.

Using technology to be alerted of that is against the rules.

Nothing I said was wrong.

You’ll never believe it because you’re biased as frick and unable to discuss this topic with any objectivity.

I don’t blame you for that, but it’s the truth.

What rules did they break. I’ve honestly been trying to research this and everything I have read on the internet just says they cheated.

Can someone please tell me what they did to do considering cheating?

I am not sure you know how stuff works. It is impossible for a microphone to pick up hand signals. In baseball the catcher uses hand signals to call the pitches..and the coaches will use hand signals if need be to relay information to the catcher. So a microphone would not really be a good choice to steal those signals, but on the other hand a CAMERA with a live feed would be an EXCELLENT choice. The Astros had a camera with a live feed of the opponent.

Question.

Should pitchers who use pine tar be banned from baseball? They gain a significant advantage over the hitter and have hurt borderline hitters careers similar to the Astros bats and also ran pitchers.

They used technology.
If you’ve really been trying to research this and haven’t gotten that answer yet, you’re a moron.

You do realize that simply having a camera in the outfield is not why they got in trouble, right?
