It won't be. NBA season is only about a month away, now, believe it or not.

So I guess LeBron didn't mean a word he said during the ESPY's last year.

quote:

I know tonight we’re honoring Muhammad Ali. The GOAT. But to do his legacy any justice, let’s use this moment as a call to action for all professional athletes to educate ourselves. It’s for these issues. Speak up. Use our influence. And renounce all violence.

Good. Respect for LeBron.

I have no problem with athletes expressing themselves, but certain things are off limits for me.

Sitting during the national anthem in protest is not much different from flag burning in my opinion. It sends the same message.

You can protest, but I'm not down with protesting in that way.

That sounds like the exact opposite of what a protest is designed to do

"You can be mad, but please don't offend my sensibilities."

Another reason to like LBJ. Someday people will realize this isn't even about black vs white as much as it is culture.

Whitey looks down on thugs whether they're black or white. Same with rednecks and poors in general who don't hold themselves to a certain standard.

Sure for some, it's culture, but...

Start a thread on the OT asking if they'd let their daughter date a black guy.

You'll see real quick that for quite a few, it is most certainly about skin color and nothing more.

As is the same with many black people. But at the same time, is that because of culture or skin color? I think most people revert back to that generalization of black people being what they see in rap videos and often in the news. They place that bold stereotype onto the boy attempting to land their daughter. Does that make it true racism or ignorance?

And even then, how often do parents like any boy who comes to dinner trying to land their baby girl?

Go start that thread or find the last one that was started, you'll get your answer real quick.

The dude could be a Harvard grad and just treat that daughter better than any other dude in the world, and some guys on the OT have made it very clear that they would not want that black guy dating their black daughter due to their heritage. Now you can call that culture, but the culture/heritage of those individuals are racist, so...

ETA: So we don't get into this part of the debate...do black people do the same? Yes

Both of these statements are absolutely correct.

It was actually more of a comment on the topic of what athletes do during the national anthem. How people still care about this shite is beyond me.

Why doesn't LeBron report that he's donating millions to homeless-charities in Cleveland or something?

He doesn't report it, but his foundation donates a LOT of money and gifts to underprivileged kids in Akron, and they paid for a new college of education building at U of Akron
