LeBron James says he will NOT follow Colin Kaepernick's lead when it comes to the National Anthem ... and vows to STAND when "The Star-Spangled Banner" is played during the NBA season. James was speaking with reporters at Cavs Media Day in Independence, OH when he explained his position. "Me, standing for the national anthem is something I will do," James said ... "That's who I am. That's what I believe in." "But that doesn't mean I don't respect and don't agree with what Colin Kaepernick is doing."

2 weeks ago Shumpert also changed his mind from kneeling to saying he will donate money for every steal he makes.
So much for Nba players kneeling for the anthem...

Incredibly smart idea from Shumpert. That will get him praise from both sides.

Doesn't want to risk losing those huge endorsement deals, smart.

Finally, I can sleep easy tonight.

In all seriousness, there is a time and place to have a voice if you are someone with that type of following and platform. Doing it at a time where we are honoring our nations past and what not is not one of those times. There are so many injustices going on in the country, I can agree with that. So many times where things could/would have been different if even just one thing was done different, but protesting the National Anthem doesn't solve anything other than drawing negative attention to yourself and those around you.

well yeah because the NBA can suspend players for not standing. Most players can't afford missing game checks. Of course Lebron could; however, that's still about a half a million game check he'd be missing, still a lot of cash, even to him. I don't think a lot of NBA players are old enough to remember Chris Jackson and the NBA's response to refusing to stand

I honestly want one of these big stars to kneel, someone with alot on the line a lebron, steph curry, etc. Really show us how much you support your stance that it affects you financially.

I figured South Park would have squashed reporting on this faux drama.

Why doesn't LeBron report that he's donating millions to homeless-charities in Cleveland or something?

Stand, don't stand - Who gives a shite?

Especially about stuff that makes no difference?

Pulling an endorsement from the bizzaro brandon marshall is likely a bit easier to do than pull it from lebron, just fwiw.

You do realize that Lebron didn't "report" that he will stand, right?

He was asked a question and answered it.
