"A big mansion in Philly".......Barkley on Dan Patrick said that LJ will live in N.Y. & take a helicopter to Philly whenever an appearance is necessary for basketball reasons. He said that Philly fans are "furious" over this decision. Barkley spoke rather matter-of -factually about it & Patrick didn't argue with him.

Imagine being a sports fan in 2026 and thinking players care or should care about the city of the team they play for.

I don’t know who he’s talking to, but no one in Philly is furious. They’re thrilled to have him play for the team, and could care less where he lives.

Of all the teams that he was considering that were actually interested in him as well by all accounts were the SIxers, Warriors, Minnesota, Denver, Miami and Cleveland..

Out of the Sixers, Miami, and Cleveland the Sixers are by far the best situation imo. I
I don't agree. I think folks put a lot of stock in him joining Embid, but he's physically declining - look labored in his movement - he's not teaming with Embid in his prime and those two on defense on the court at the same time - teams will iso and drive by them all game long any time they want. And that's when Embid is not hurt.
I don't follow the NBA much outside of watching the Pels, and as bad as they have been I don't even watch them as much, but I have a hard time believing of the rosters you mentioned none are constructed as good or better as a fit with Lebron to make a run.
But ultimately - I would agree with you - even if Philly could make the finals....and I don't think they will....they will lose to whoever comes out of the West IMHO.

Even if Embiid wasn't on the team, their starting roster would still have 3-4 all star caliber players on it.

I think Minnesota would probably have been the best fit. I think Denver and Golden State probably needed him the most, but chasing rings it makes no sense to go to the West.
Cleveland to me is just a good regular season team and even with Lebron I don't see them getting over the hump. Definitely would question the fit in Miami but I guess he could have run point full time and made it work.
Assuming all are healthy, which is virtually impossible, I think Nurse is going to be able to run second units that will be elite. He's going to have to stagger minutes like crazy. Just not enough balls to go around. I think if Lebron is willing to essentially be a 6th man they are going to be good. If he insists on being the same player he's always been he's probably going to put a hamper on Maxey and especially Edgecombs progress.
You have to give LeBron credit that he has adapted his game pretty well as he's aged. He's a liability on defense but he has become a pretty elite facilitator. I can see him taking less minutes in Philly and possibly was a reason he went there but that is obviously just speculation.

He was pretty content being 3rd option behind Reeves and Luka in LA this past season. I think he's gonna be pumped to have Embiid and Jaylen Brown as elite defenders around him. He hasn't played with an elite defensive player in years. He's much better as a help defender and just shooting passing lanes and this age.

quote:No but aside from the whole ring chasing thing being dumb, using it when he’s joining Philly who has Embiid as a key piece and hasn’t sniffed the conference finals in 25 yrs is pretty hilarious.
You think he went there because he likes the weather?

This list kills the “no good teams wanted him” narrative so easily.
They’re not OKC, Spurs, or Knicks… or even Celtics

He's ring chasing. That's not even up for debate. Whether you care if he is doing that or not is another debate. Embiid is an MVP winner and talent when healthy, That's not the only guy on the team in case you didn't know. Maxey is a stud, Brown is MVP caliber and Edgecomb is an up and coming stud. He went there to win a ring. There's a reason he didn't go to the Pelicans, Nets or Wizards, he's trying to go to the best place to win a championship. It's pretty dumb to think otherwise.

The only semi-good story out of all this would have been him returning to Cleveland to retire and finish his career.
This is just a weird move.
Only team with a punchers chance at a title that wanted him is my guess.
He is haunted by everyone with a brain still saying he isn't as good as Jordan and he desperately wants to add titles. He might play until he's 45 to attempt to do this.

LeBron is officially set to commute daily from NYC to Philadelphia, potentially via helicopter.
You know who else commuted to NBA games and practices via helicopter a lot?
Kobe Bryant.

Is he leaving Bronny in LA? Damn, that's cold.

Alright... checking back to address a few things...
Hey if you're comfortable with it, I respect it.
Alright. I was moreso trolling about your response, but this is fricking awesome man.
I know what you mean. Me and my grandpa shared a bond over the Saints. We were in the Dome together in 2009 when they won the NFCCG vs the Vikings. He passed away in 2017. Thought for sure they were going to win another one in 2018. I still get a little sad when the season starts up knowing he isn't here.
I enjoy watching the Sixers. Maxey seems like a really good dude and I wish Embiid could stay healthy. It sucks LeBron is there now because I refuse to root for that guy to have success lol
Enjoy the season man. Should be a fun ride whether or not they win it all.

My grandma used to work at the Spectrum before they tore it down to build what’s now the Xfinity arena. All my parents could afford were nosebleed seats but I was happy as hell to even watch the Sixers. I still have the tattered Dr. J card she gave me before she passed away, herself buried in a Dr. J jersey
