re: Lebron: Morey misinformed, not educated; tweet ‘dangerous’

That’s one legitimate take.
My alternative take is that LeBron believes his own press to the point where he can call someone else’s comments ignorant and uneducated while turning around and pleading ignorance of the situation himself.
He missed his calling as a gymnast with those kinds of contortions.

I'm assuming most of the discussion in this thread is bashing Lebron for his response and I get that part of it.
Just wondering if anyone has pointed out that Lebron saying Morey's tweet of potential 'physical' ramifications to NBA players could be seen as a major indictment of China. In my opinion, China may view that as much worse than Morey's tweet.
Lebron basically just said that China may harm innocent NBA players because of a tweet.

ve not been a fan of plenty of LeBron's sociopolitical takes, but if he'd come out as strongly against injustices in China as those issues he perceives as injustices here, I'd have been the first to tip my cap to him as indeed a man of his word from a consistency of message standpoint.
I seriously wonder what the majority of the NBA would say if you asked them in private how they can explain moving the allstar game over some fricking tranny bathrooms but will go play in a country that physically locks up anyone that dissents. Its so pathetic. Nike really needs to answer how they can push "equality" with a straight face while the kids stictching the damm word on their clothes are making 10 cents an hour too. The only good thing to come from this is these companies being exposed as fake virtue signalers.

How do you figure that when LeBron said:
Rachel Nichols tweet with the video of his answers
He makes it pretty clear, IMO, he's talking about Morey being uneducated about the consequences.
He starts the video off saying he personally is uneducated and uninformed on the situation on the ground, then they pivot to asking him about Morey.
Regardless, I'm not defending the man. It's a chicken shite answer just like Pop and Kerr.

Dude just justified the Chinese government massacring their own citizens.
The West/ Democracies "justified" the Chinese government when they still did business with Communist China after Tianamem.
The West "Justified" the Chinese Government when US & the world embraced / accepted the murderous Mao Zedong
The west/ World "justified" the Chinese government when they Officially accepted China as the legitimate government of China over democrattic Taiwan
All of the Political/ greedy business experts promised that once the Chinese were exposed to our freedoms , our wealth , etc.....they would demand that for themselves. Here we are 50 years later & this corrupt Government is even stronger.

He may be saying it between the lines but he isn’t intentionally drawing attention to it.
Someone ask him about this. See if AD’s thumb was hurt by a Chinese government agent.

I don't think he necessarily said that. I think he said that Morey didn't think about the players at all that were on foreign soil when tweeting out what he did. That's the only part of Lebron's tweet that I support. The timing was odd from Morey from a business perspective. The hypocrisy is laughable from Lebron though.

Pretty much this. People hoping for some lasting harm to the NBA are going to be disappointed. Business entities will always work something out with this much money at stake.
The NBA's credibility with regard to taking organizational stances (or NBA celebs taking public stances) on social issues takes a massive hit in the aftermath of all this, though. As well it should.

If China is such a great place, why would Morey’s tweet out the NBA players in any danger?

It doesn't put them in harm, but why tweet it out while they are over there? Why even take a risk, even if the risk is minuscule? It really didn't make much sense. Why not tweet it a week before they went?

Is this what the kids are calling "whataboutism?"

Who the frick cares when he sent it? Why are you not more upset that a fricking government entity will get so riled up a moderately influential figure sent out a tweet?

But I ask again...what specifically did he mean by uneducated? That reeks of being told Morey was wrong, by "someone," about his take, and would think differently were he better educated on the subject of China/HK.
You could be right. It's not how I interpret it in the context of the video, but it's perfectly plausible.
Not that it really matters, but LeBron clarified on Twitter that he was talking about the consequences of the tweet and not the substance of the matter.

No Whataboutism is what Steve Kerr launched into comparing the millions killed by China’s government to a mall shooter

Why does one tweet cause a nation of 1.5 billion people to completely lose its shite?
It is innocuous on its own and was pretty much not noticed until Fertita drew attention to it.
The tweet isn’t nearly the problem that the reactions have been.

That's the gist of it.
Lik I said in my first post in this thread, LeBron has a point, but he's completely tone deaf and thoroughly hypocritical for not taking a stand.
