I don't see how you can honestly say anyone who ever played in the NFL, aside from most kickers and some punters, is unathletic.

Exactly. Particularly when the poster offered up Rich Gannon, who was traded by the Patriots because he refused to be a defensive back. An NFL team felt that he was athletic enough to be a DB, so he can't be a bad athlete.

And someone else offered up Janikowski, who is actually a pretty damned good athlete, as well.

true. if a player gets compared to pete rose it's because they make up for their lack of talent and athletic ability by going all out all the time. like freaking rudy

Tons of major leaguers and managers have said he should have been a bench player at best and some said he shouldn't have even ever made it to the bigs. The dude worked his arse off and hustled every game of his entire career.

I could run faster in quicksand than Peyton can on turf.

Clearly

Dude is sorta fat and can accurately kick a football from midfield.

He made the Polish National U-17 side in soccer.

In high school he had 15 goals over FIVE GAMES.

Non-athletes aren't goal scorers in soccer, and non-athletes don't represent their country in soccer.

This is one of those threads where people flaunt their ignorance.

Who would you choose to fit this criteria then?

I would have to agree with other posters and say Pete Rose, but I am also going back and thinking about others who've had a lot of success without a lot of natural talent.

I like the Tony Gwynn answer.

I don't, if you can steal over 50 bases in a season, you're athletic.
