The Pac-12 is parting ways with commissioner Larry Scott, a source has confirmed to @TheAthleticCFB. It's been referred to as a "mutual decision." SBJ first reported.

Thank God. Quite the uphill battle he created for the next commissioner.

I wouldn’t blame the commissioner when the administrators and fans commitment to winning is the problem. That’s why the PAC 12 is behind other conferences

Are they getting rid of him because he didn't care enough or because he didn't do enough not caring?

What exactly did he do (or not do) that led them to this? Genuinely asking because I'm not in the know regarding Larry Scott. But I mean if ADs in the conference want to focus more on Olympic sports then how is that his fault? Didn't he get them them 2 new members and a network deal?

Is he just a fall guy for optics or was he actually incompetent?

That conference is doomed in terms of appeal. I'd be shocked if the Pac-12 ever fields a top 5 team again. A conference full of schools about get Donna Shalala'd.

They need a commissioner who will tell the liberal west coast university presidents and state governments to STFU. Those two entities have really knee capped the league over the past year.

forcing the regional channels on the network basically ensured it would fail and once those failures were materialized around 2015, the conference was doomed. Its so far behind now and I don't envy whomever replaces him

He sucked but it's not his fault there's no passion on the west coast for football. The only reason we even had CFB at all this year is because of the SEC. There would have been riots if they told SEC fans no CFB. Since the SEC said they were having football it forced the other conferences to play.

He'll be paid handsomely to go away. Failure at that level is always rewarded with a golden parachute.

Good. They have been the worst P5 conference by far and looked like they were the B1G's retarded sidekick through all the Covid stuff. There are deeper problems but Scott clearly wasn't the person to work through them.

So moving the Pac 12 offices and paying $1mil a month in rent wasn't a good idea after all...
