suing the university and coach Lane Kiffin

I believe that would be “illegally”, correct? This is a nothing burger & I’m sure the lawsuit will be dropped pretty quickly

Depends where he recorded him. Some states only require the consent/knowledge of the recording from one party to it.

Pretty clear this kid has an agenda, though. Kiffin said nothing wrong. Kid seems like a coddled pussy of this generation who has been taught claiming mental health problems absolves you from any consequences. That’s just not how the real world works, though.

I don't think anyone is saying that at all... The way it seems this was handled seems to be more about lack of accountability in a major college football program than somebody having a mental breakdown. Especially when services were provided to the dude. Now he is playing the victim card and actually is making this a lawsuit... come on man.

Kick that soft pussy off the team.

I detest this new trend of athletes claiming made up mental health issues to avoid coach/media scrutiny. Calvin Ridley, Ben Simmons, that pussy from Minnesota whining about PJ Fleck, etc...

I don't see any problem with what Kiffin said. But this is your new America so get ready for a controversy.

This is some gen z BS.

Dude didn’t respond to his coaches for weeks and got cut. He was offered support services and he ignored them until there were consequences then he wants to sue them?

If they were trying to make me support Kiffin congrats it worked.

This is the issue. He wants to play where HE wants to play, and if he doesn’t get his way, it’s “mental issues.” Easily made up and very difficult to discredit. Team Kiffin.

Kid likely torched his career too. I can’t see another coach inviting a guy who secretly records conversations into the program.

Unannounced from an at will job or team?

GTFO. He was in clear violation of team rules and policies, did not request any accommodation and got cut.

I’m terrified that you the upcoming gen z crowd thinks that’s how FMLA works. You can’t just go dark indefinitely and claim that as a defense when the axe falls.

Yeah if I'm reading this right, he even said it was OK if he came in to meet with Kiffin and they went over his mental health issues, but it wasn't OK for him to just not meet with Kiffin. Pretty sure that's how it works in real jobs, too.

Actually, you do. FMLA

So you think proper FMLA procedures are to ghost your work for weeks without properly notifying HR?

Do you think you can just walk into a room and yell that you declare bankruptcy, too?

It’s your employer that grants you FMLA before you take an authorized extended absence. This guy quit showing up and then refused to meet with Kiffin.

This is what I’ve found. I’m no lawyer, but if Kiffin didn’t know he was being recorded, it’s probably not legal.

quote:

You must have permission from the party being recorded or, at the very least, give the other person notice that the call is being recorded.

Here’s an example:
quote:

Without obtaining Tom’s consent or a search warrant, Sara recorded a conversation between them to gather evidence. However, in court, the judge ruled that the recording was illegally obtained and therefore inadmissible as evidence. Despite the recording potentially supporting Sara’s claims, it could not be considered due to the violation of the consent requirement.

Wrong. MS is a 1-party consent state. As long as the player knew there was a recording it's legal within the borders of MS (and LA).

Miss. Code Ann. § 41-29-531(e).

Kiffin literally said multiple times he's tried to work with the kid and the dude just didn't want to help himself or his situation.

Also frick people who record in secret.

I am about to have a rule where if I'm in a divorce consult and one person tells me they have a recording, I'm asking them to leave.
