It is! This man gave his heart and soul into this team.Gave them some swagger! Great coach!
Playing time? How about “My kid is starting pitcher but not in the batting lineup. We are on our way to April’s office right now.” (Actual story)
THAT’S the shite he had to put up with all year from these people. It was next level insanity.

School admin are so scared of lawsuits that this is what is happening most places. No different than a classroom. You have to document and cover your arse or the parents win. No wonder the kids think they can start shite in a game. The admin told them they have more power than the coach.
It is even more challenging at private schools, because they are treating parents like "customers now". It's why many are getting out and fewer are getting in. Compounded by publicly blasting coaches and their spouses and even their kids.

Travel ball mentality of you are owed something for being on the team and if you don't like it, pick up and go find another team. Playing for a program and earning your spot isn't being pushed by the parents. It is "the coach is stupid and playing favorites. He is such an idiot".

The phrase "parents all say they want the best 9 on the field. That isn't true. They want the best 8 and their son" couldn't be more true.

Wow! I'm sure this guy will be redeemed by finding a great landing spot.

Sounds like a coach who won 4 state titles in the highest classification of the LHSAA.

Don’t make fun of me because I haven’t posted here in a while and I don’t do good with links. Maybe someone else can post a link.
Go to Lakeshore Titans HS Baseball Facebook page and see all of the comments and reposts. This man is a great coach.
I hope he finds a home with a school with a great administration, lights on the field and covered stands. All of which we have been fighting for and don’t have!

i dont understand wh these admin even give the parents the time of day. I can see if its an abuse thing, if the team is losing all the time and lack of discpline.....but to complain because your son isnt getting playing time or got suspended....frick you...go somewhere else if you dont like it. its insane to me.

Yes but with the rise of charter schools and the decline of enrollment(at nearly ALL privates), schools are competing viscously for the federal dollars that each enrolled student means. and the fear of being sued, drug through social media circus - they just throw their hands up - this could end up having far reaching implications to HS sports.

Yes, playing time. Coach tossed a bat in kid’s general direction at practice and it grazed his arm. This was in February. End of April they they went to admin because he had been benched.

If you're running a private school, parents are customers are they not?

yes, but each year lately they have garnered more and more power administratively. It's why some schools have ended up with choice 2, 3 or 4 when hiring new coaches. 10 years ago it was VERY different.

To our Facebook page. Don’t know how to link it.

We are not letting this go! If parents can control a coaching situation than we are in for a very sad future in hs baseball.

No we are watching to see if the install the replacement these said parents want.

so...was Nunez on staff at the school? i saw a comment in the article about it always being best for the coach to be on staff?

Man sounds like he was treated like shite and wasnt allowed to discpline the program like needed be.

sounds like he could use a move to an area that does a better job supporting coaches and has great facilities.....cough...SWLA...cough.

I have TONS of family that went to St. Thomas More, even kin by marriage to a former principal. The school is known as a brat school lol, HOWEVER, they have retained two coaches (Broussard in basketball and Hightower in football) since the school was STARTED in 1983, along with the softball and volleyball coaches still there from at least 2013. I wonder how much they put up with!

Not picking sides but this is not some small thing the admin can just gloss over.

I’m not going to say unless he is named because I don’t want to falsely attach him to this mess. He is a good guy but is being promoted by one set of parents who want favoritism. But it’s someone who used to coach on the Northshore.

Y’all, would be fortunate to have him. I know he still wants to coach again. He has an outside job. We will always be fans!
Looks like she’s wiping out more of the staff too.
