re: Improving the Birth Rate

I worked for the State of Louisiana Office of Family Support years ago and let me tell you, lots of these “single mothers” actually do live with the fathers of their children. They just lie, lie lie and will have family members vouch for their lies. We were tasked to prove they were lying but even if we did, nothing was ever done about it.
Finally couldn’t take it anymore and had to find another job. More penalties and come down harder for fraud on both parents.

On another note, look at the kids people are putting out into the world. More and more parents just slap a phone or iPad in their face and don’t parent them. They have no social skills, don’t give a crap about school disrespectful etc.
I’m not too excited about more of this. My biggest concern is how to get QUALITY people into the world. Let’s face it, these are the ones that will be taking care of us in the future and that scares the shite out of me.
It is a great place to live. Denver and Boulder are very liberal but the rest of the state is beautiful and peaceful and full of normal people. Property taxes and insurance are low. Very far from a hellhole.

2004 for me.
I remember our first get together after I joined, downtown Baton Rouge I think. It was a really good group of people!
My two cents:

After graduating college and getting married, I chose to work until the kids were born. I stayed home until they went to school then got my teaching certification so that I could still spend time with them in the summers and holidays. It used to be a great job for educated moms and I loved it….back then.

This is just my experience as a public school teacher, but I have never indoctrinated any kids into any ideology and nor have I known a teacher that does this. Personally, even if I wanted to, there simply was not enough time in the day to teach curriculum, deal with disrespectful and unruly kids, collect mandatory data for administrators and grade tests and homework. I don’t know what goes on in these classrooms with a teacher with an ideological angle. They can’t possibly be teaching.

That being said, I don’t know who in their right mind would go into teaching today. Parents and kids run the schools, you literally CANNOT fail any kid, no matter how many tests they fail, no matter how many days absent. Kids stay on their phones in class and curse at you if even try to take it. Parents literally think their kids do no wrong and no one gives a shite about learning because they know they pass no matter what.there is no discipline.

This was my last semester because it was just too pointless. Going in a different direction now that mine are grown. Thankful to be in a position to be getting out.

One example, I have a child that has come to school a total of 18 days last year. She has come 5 days this year. She will keep passing. Mom thinks it’s cool that she stays home with her and CPS does nothing. There is no reason for her to not be in school but she does what she wants. It looks bad on teachers but our hands are tied.

If you think the next generation is gonna be bad, you’re right. And they will be taking care of us. Education needs an overhaul for sure and a serious narrative about neglectful parents needs to be had. They need to be held accountable for the kids they are putting out into the world.

here is something inherently wrong with allowing people the freedom to reproduce without the accountability to care for their offspring. It's not the governments role to subsidize procreation although it should be the governments job to hold people accountable for their choices even if it means letting otherwise able bodied people and their offspring starve.

Can’t upvote this enough! Change the narrative to making shitty parents accountable for these kids they are putting out in the world. I raised good children that will have to deal with the generation that aren’t being raised properly. Quality parents THEN quality kids.
We can do better than just throwing out welfare checks. Invest in the kids themselves. After school mentor programs, good families taking neglected kids under their wing, sponsor an extracurricular activity for them or have them over for a meal a couple of times a week so they see what a functional family looks like. As overly simplistic as this may sound, this is the general direction we should be going in instead of just saying “produce more babies.” Produce quality future citizens. Hold parents accountable. Until then, I don’t want to encourage more kids.
How about no tax on income at all? National sales tax is the way to go, or drop the income tax down to 10% and stop blowing our money.
I really hate all this pitting one group of workers against others for no taxes. The entire working population is too overtaxed and needs a break.

Randy Mebruer was her name. I was a shampoo girl at a salon off of Perkins when I was a student at LSU. She used to get her hair done there and we became friends. She gave me all of her son’s baby clothes when my first child was born. Incredibly sweet woman. It is believed he killed her in her bed. Sure wish they would have found her so her family could have closure.
I’m mad every time I look at my paycheck stub. Or get many other insane tax bills. Or try to go to the DMV or deal with any other incompetent government agency. We sit here and fight amongst ourselves while the government just does the one thing it it’s good at: plot to steal more of the money and quality of life we earn to blow….just because they can. We are powerless to stop it. Ukraine, Israel, over bloated handouts while nothing gets better. Yes. I’m angry. But they do a good job of keeping us distracted. God help us all.
Just gonna say this…it takes an act of Congress to fail a kid now. They can miss as much school as they want, fail every test and flat out refuse to do any work and they pass. It is beyond a teacher. I fight it every year. We can fail them but admin passes them or parents threaten to sue. That’s the God’s honest truth.

We only have a gas station and a bar in the town where I live. The back of the bar is stocked with ammo. Lol

Denver and it’s suburbs are a world away right now and hopefully it stays that way.

Trust me, they can only go so far in CO. South into Douglas County is where it ends.
No downvote here on a respectful post.
I know emotion is looked down on here, but I’ll say that your post brought me to tears.

I am so grateful to hear your story and glad that your mother chose to give you life!

Me posting here was something I thought long and hard about and decided to finally say something because I was so tired of seeing how callous people were being. I did it with my daughter in mind. Not realizing that people would go so far as to go after me, even though I was the pregnant woman they wish would choose life. I didn’t want to see them go after my kids too, which some will.

I have no idea what my daughter would choose if she was raped. The point of my post was to point out that she has built a life that was extremely hard and not many her age would do. She works, goes to school, and does her college athletics. She has not found a man who shares her values so she waits. To be forced upon would be traumatic mentally and take away her scholarship and she wouldn’t be able to do her job, which she completely supports herself now. I wanted to point out that people gloss over what would happen to her and what could we do to help her in that situation.
Could she be guaranteed her scholarship back the next year? If not, would anyone support rape victims getting the rest of her school paid for? What guarantees could she get, if any, to be able to pick back up where she left off in her career?
All I got was “ your daughter would be a murderer.”
“It’s no longer her body”
“It’s an inconvenience.”
Her life matters too and people are so callous, especially ones who will never ever have to make that choice.
In any case, I enjoy getting to know you and your story. It certainly makes me more sympathetic to your situation. Your mom is the bomb!

This makes this horrific bomb throwing thread worth it!

He didn’t, they swelled up like basketballs I was told. I was fine with him suffering, he already had 3 kids by 3 different women

My husband did it too. I went with him and made fun of him because of how easy it was. Frozen peas for two days!

This one is particularly thorny.

Oh I know. It took me months to weigh in and you were one that I knew would come down hard. Wasn’t prepared for “commie” “you are destroying our country” “you f-ed up kids during COVID” or “rino” lol.
Especially as someone who had an unplanned pregnancy, chose life and did all I could to make his life great. My delivery must have been too flawed
