lol no.

not anymore

Tech is to women's basketball what Army or Yale is to college football. A lot of past glory but will never return to significant relevance

Welcome to 1986.

Tech was ok when no other schools gave a crap about women's basketball. When the bigger schools started spending money, it was just a matter of time before their glory days were behind them. Now, they are just another mid-major.

Should any women's basketball thread go more than 8 posts?

But both have spent time in and out of the top 25 in the past 10 years, which are both considered low times in each's respective winning history.

except Nebraska can have a good year or two and people will ask if they've bounced back

Tech has a new ceiling. the sport has changed that much

That's a pretty idiotic comparison. Neither one of those schools have been relevant in the past 60 years. Tech will be back in the mix.

It's extreme but it isn't that far off. The women's game is drastically different now than in the 80's. There's really no perfect sports comparison because most sports don't evolve like girls basketball has. MySpace is a decent comparison I can think of.

In CUSA but the national contender days are over. On the plus side the women's basketball tourney doesn't have the mid-major seeding bias the men's tourney has but a Sweet 16 appearance a decade is an extremely best case scenario.

Being that she "retired" due to onset of early ALZ I doubt she will be assisting. That disease absolutely sucks.

Tech was still good until about 2004-ish. Their last trip to the Final 4 was in 1999. Last Elite 8 was 2001. Last Sweet 16 was 2004.

Former Tech player Mickie DeMoss , current WNBA asst coach who was Pat Summits asst. at Tennessee for 20 yrs hired as asst to Tech's new 23 yr old coach, Tyler Summit. Weird. Why wasn't Mickie new head coach and Tyler her asst.?

no it isn't

both of those programs are in no place to ever compete with the big boys ever again. that is a fact

Tech is in the same position. The landscape has forever changed. They cannot consistently compete anymore

sure, they may have a few good years here and there. But they are NOT a big time program anymore and never will be

that was 10 years ago and in that time numerous BIG schools have started pouring money into women's basketball

10 years since a sweet sixteen appearance is way too long for a "power" school

LSU basically passed Tech up in 2002-03
