LSU or anyone outside the ULS legitimately upset by it is retarded; mostly I see ribbing on occasion. I do think there's the possibility that people nationally will scratch their heads and wonder who UL/Louisiana is when they see it on a broadcast though

Hey if people get confused, their problem. But you nailed the first statement. What’s hilarious is that there was once a LSU fan who got into a pi$$ing match about our name on Twitter and blatantly stated, “I’m passionate about this!” Seriously? Our name triggers you THAT much?

Lmao! Are there not signs on campus that completely omit the "Lafayette" from "UL Lafayette"? Pretty sure there is one on a concrete wall at an intersection on campus. The website is "louisiana.edu".

I have no issue with calling the atheltics teams the "Louisiana Ragin Cajuns" (better than the generic-arse bulldogs they used to be), even though it's nothing more than a clever way to get around being called UL Lafayette. It's not like they are called the UL Lafayette Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. No, it's the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, the same as LSU is the LSU Tigers.

But the university, regardless of what they say, has flirted with the UL moniker for years.

Yes there is, the university continues to repair it, but the students remove the @ Lafayette every semester. It lasts about 2 weeks each semester.

Seems like you could find a better alternative that isn't easily removed if you actually wanted it there.

Feel free to go stand guard. I’ll come drink a beer with you every now and then for status reports.

I remember in Blackham Coliseum, when it was still USL, someone would always tear off the "S" in a niche block letter logo

I mean it’s drilled into the wall. It’s not stickers. But when you have almost 20,000 students who do not share the same destain for the university as a few of y’all do, it’s kinda hard to keep them from kicking off each letter through the semester.

Please explain, because if the University has a problem with signage being destroyed in an attempt to remove the school's signage, or at least a portion, then it sounds like they do carry some disdain for either the school or the town.

It's a serious question. I see the rhetoric on here, but as someone who went out of state for school it makes little sense to me (both sides). Your argument was that the students who are apparently turned off by the name of the school have less disdain for the school than the other schools. My argument is that it shows some disdain for the school. I assume it's to make the school appear "better" than it is, either that or they are trying to disassociate with the town. ULL is a good school, pretty sure it's ranked in the top four of the state's public colleges behind LSU, LaTech, and UNO, nothing wrong with that from an academic stand point.

This is the kind of crap that makes it obvious that ULL is trying to be something they shouldn't. The signage at my hospital isn't very easily removed. Seems to me this is a thing...so just make it all one piece. Either it all comes down or it all stays.

You should start a gofundme for new signage.

Why tf do you care? You look as silly as the ULL diehards who demand their preferred pronouns be used

Here's how you can help. The next time you go to Home Depot, you can ask which aisle you can find a good sticky substance that'll keep the lettering in place and donate to the cause.

I'm pretty sure if you pull up that intersection on Google Street View, one side of the street says "University of Louisiana" with "Lafayette" underneath, and the other side omits Lafayette.

I have a hard time believing the students are removing it on one side and not the other.

Trust me dude, students remove it. Hell I removed it when I was a student in 2000-04.

Sorry for partying!

By the way I really like McNeese’s new basketball arena.
