Dr. Maggard came out with the idea of merging the two conferences to cater to geography. Rather than traveling to Virginia to play Old Dominion, drive three hours down the road to play the Cajuns. Same goes with us going somewhere like South Carolina to play Coastal. Right now, margins are running thin with the G5. Plus, this will draw more fan interest at the ticket gates.

It’s economically smart.

Not a knock on LA Tech, who’s been pretty good lately... just baffles me how anyone could play Tulane 9 times and lose all of them.

How many of those games happened before modern times?

Tech has been better than ULL for a long time

It doesn't matter.. nobody gives a shite about LA Tech vs Old Dominion

But LA Tech vs ULL might actually put people in the stands and sell tickets

La Tech has pretty much always been respectable at FB in my memory, ironically Derek Dooley may have been their worst coach, then he got hired by Tennessee. ULL didn't become respectable until Ricky bustle in like 2005, then Hudspeth made them consistently good in 2011. I think the Cajuns have much better history in baseball and basketball than Tech, but those aren't the cash cows That conferences would look at

Tulane had too much suck between leaving the SEC and now

Amidst the "suck" Tulane is also the only one of the 4 non-LSUs with any real accomplishments in football. We also play much harder schedules.

Tulane certainly seems to have a good thing going now with the campus stadium as well as on field success

But CUSA is better....right.

Hey Couyon...when’s the last time UL-L beat Tech in football?
Tech has slight edge in basketball, Cajuns have more history in baseball, but that’s all but evaporated now. Tech had been dominant as of late.

That’s legitimately one of the best ideas I’ve ever seen for a large conference idea.

Come on now. Yes, you’ve had the edge in football.
In basketball, Tech hasn’t made the NCAA Tournament since Ronald Reagan was in the White House and the Soviet Union still existed.
In baseball, you’ve made 1 regional appearance in almost 40 years. So, you got a little cat bong up to do lol.

As far as the matchup, it only makes sense to play regularly.

Cajuns has good football in the 1980s and early 90s during the Delhomme/Stokley era. Unfortunately, we fell down the well for a good decade before Bustle brought us some relevancy. And then Hud took it to the next level. And now, Napier might actually put us on the map.

Man I'm so glad to be free and clear of C-USA and some of those shithole programs.

Been seven years now and it still feels relieving.

Only way that happens is if there are more Sun Belt fans than CUSA fans...lmao! Nobody outside of those fanbases gives a shite about those conferences.

And? Yeah, no one cares about the Southland. But at least we are "D2" as half of the idiots call us. The Sunbelt and CUSA are afterthoughts on the biggest stage of college football.

Again, CUSA gets less CFP payout, less TV exposure and revenue and LaTurds athletic budget is roughly 20% smaller than the Cajuns.

You Rustonians have dominated the football series, kudos on that. But to act like CUSA is the SEC compared to the Sun Belt is delusional. The Sun Belt has been the higher rated conference for the majority of the last 5-7 years. One league is trending up and one is trending down. It’s plainly obvious to which one that is. It doesn’t matter what your AD wants to shout.
