Like that being the most likely thing they can do to get out of their family's endless cycle of poverty, which OF COURSE was not precipitated by institutional racism?

Do you really think that the thing that would "most likely" get black folks out of poverty is becoming a professional basketball player? There are no other routes that would be easier than that?

Hey high IQ, what are you PHYSICALLY doing in your daily life to solve inequalities?

I'm sure you're doing something really special and impactful. I was hoping you'd grace us with that information for inspiration.

But in many ways the more dangerous form of racism isn’t that loud and stupid kind. It isn’t the kind that announces itself when it walks into the arena. It’s the quiet and subtle kind. The kind that almost hides itself in plain view. It’s the person who does and says all the “right” things in public: They’re perfectly friendly when they meet a person of color. They’re very polite. But in private? Well….. they sort of wish that everyone would stop making everything “about race” all the time.

So, if we think people should be judged on the content of their character, rather than the color of their skin. And we feel that people shouldn't define themselves by their race, we're the racist ones?

You’re mixing up personal responsibility vs responsibility of those who make the system. No one is against personal responsibility. And you also have to accept there is a system that is not equitable, and that the system can change to be more equitable. If you can’t get past that last part, nothing will change.

It’s the responsibility of anyone and everyone in a position of power to make changes that make the system more fair for all. Guess who holds that power, overwhelmingly? Yes, it’s a bad shortcut to say “white people”, because there are exceptions, but don’t let that detract from the overall message that those who have the power to make a change for the good should do so (almost always white in the U.S. situation ), and that we should all strive for that ideal, celebrate it, encourage it, and reward it in our society. Not just give it lip service.

Can you give specific examples of how this should be accomplished?

That's the tough part dude

Sure we have laws and such, that's important, and the fact that we need those laws still today suggests that there STILL is a problem, right?

anyways. it's going to take 2-3 generational investment into urban youth before any substantial progress or a "solution" can be made

laws will never be enough

Guaranteed the policies most people vote for that agree with Kyle's hot take on disparities actually perpetuate the issues he's complaining about. So good job there.

Edit: Dear God, I didn't read this clowns posts after I addressed him. People like him should not be taken seriously. He is now talking about equity like his communist overlords. Dismiss his hot taking.

The fact that black imprisonment rates for drug charges are almost six times higher nationally than white imprisonment rates for drug charges is wrong. The fact that inequality is built so deeply into so many of our most trusted institutions is wrong.

Can explain all this to him in a couple of sentences: Thank the Welfare State and illegal immigration for hurting the black/poor white community. Police shooting of blacks decreased 70% last couple of decades, most preventable cause of death for blacks is black-on-black homicide and empirical evidence proves that one can reach the middle-class by simply graduating high school and getting married before one has a kid. Get educated and read a book, Korver.

That is what really confuses me. I think he just wanted any opportunity to let people know that he supports the complaining from the blacks.

Kyle listed stats that only implicate the black population and not a single other minority’s group. Crazy!

I think 4% of the population committing majority of violent crimes is wrong.

I think a people with 13% of the population should probably not hold the majority of wealth in this country.

I wonder how guys can move here from Africa and actually prosper, Latinos, Asians, any one can come here and prosper.

I bet if he listened to fans conversations about him, hed find a lot of it as racist towards him.

Instead of everyone holding everyone accountable...how about certain people try a little personal accountability and stop blaming others?

I am sick and tired of lazy, no-account mofos of all races.

So his answer is to make things unequal for everyone else until somebody decides that the racism debt has been repaid? When did two wrongs begin to make a right?

If anything the NBA is incredibly racist against white players. Most black players will tell you that.

"If a white player is good, we say alright but lets see if he can do it against US." - Magic Johnson

There's been a massive black privilege and assumption by GM's that black players are just automatically better than white players the last 40 years.

And it's the white players who have to prove themselves above and beyond without getting any benefit of the doubt just because of their skin color.
