Perhaps more importantly, Haden is an extrovert and not an egotist.

Garrett was a great athlete, and a decent lawyer, but he didn't have a very positive vibe about him.
He was gruff as frick and inconsiderate, and I wish him well somewhere else.

Bottom line - Unless Tony Dungy-wannabe Pat Haden axes Lane Kiffin for "ethics violations" or some off-field shite I guarantee you that Lane Kiffin will hold up more BCS crystal balls at USC than Petey boy did.

Do you accept the friendly wager?

Putting in obvious exceptions like that for a bet is pretty silly imo. It would be like saying, "Unless Greg Oden gets injured, he will average more rebounds than Kevin Durant." Problem is, Oden gets injured all the time, just like Kiffin gets in trouble all the time.

Haden was a rhodes scholar, has a law degree, ran a very successful venture capital firm, and has been a trustee at SC for years.... if there was ever someone who was qualified to handle the business and sports aspects of running an athletic department, it's him, especially compared to Mike Garrett

Yeah he's a modern day Benjamin Franklin.

If I were a USC fan I'd be scared to death that he finds some way to oust Kiffin, upsetting the apple cart yet again and making USC football start from scratch again.

If he leaves Kiffin alone and lets him flourish than he'll be fine.

They didn't use them all anyway so it's really like 20 less and they'll survive just fine. They dodged the "no TV" bullet which would have been the real penalty. It's amazing how Kiffin is the a-hole and Carroll is still beloved by USC fans.

Even Jake Olson can see the future at USC is bright.

"Did we score?"

is beating Hawaii by 7 any worse than beating La Tech by 7?

Carroll signing tiny classes compared to every other major team is one reason SC's defense is currently so soft

LSU will answer most of its questions tomorrow night. I think you'll be fine until league play starts.

Its gonna be very tough but not impossible. A lot of people dont realize SC can get 9 early enrollees next year. They could potentially sign 24 recruits next year. The next two after that will be tough

Barkley looked so incredibly poised and good with his reads, and their RB looked so patient and smart with his holes that I think USC will be a tough out for anybody on their schedule.

Well, they were playing fricking Hawaii, who gave up 301 yards rushing in their final game last year against Wisconsin (554 yards total). I'd hope that USC could carve up a shitty team. Still doesn't excuse leaving WRs completely wide open and running throughout the secondary when you're facing the 3rd string QB

Lane Kiffin is a great coach, sorry that it's an unpopular opinion.
