Do you agree?

quote:

Get Up

"It's way harder to win a championship in the NBA than it is in the NFL."

Is @kendrickperkins speaking facts?

I love the NFL damn it but the NBA playoffs alone you have to win 16 games to be crowned champion after playing 82 games. The NBA playoffs is an entire NFL season in itself. Carry the hell on!!

Well thats a matter of perspective. Its easier to win the Super Bowl as a lower seed, but also easier to win the NBA Finals as a higher seed. The best team is more likely to win a 7 game series than a single NFL playoff game

I agree somewhat.

The best player in the NBA Finals usually wins the title. Not the case in the NFL.

However, you have to basically have a top 3-5 player at the very least to even sniff an NBA title and a lot of that is based on luck.

I don’t see how you can say it’s harder when you’re just 1-2 players away like in the NBA.

If you're a small market franchise, sure.

Really depends on your situation.

If you have a star player or two then it’s not even close to as hard as the NFL.

But if you’re someone like the Kings? Your chance is pretty much zero

For the NFL teams even the best teams in the league need a ton of luck to win the SB because it’s win or go home in the playoffs

But if you’re someone like the Jets, even as bad as you’ve been, you can sneak an AFC title run or two in there with a bad QB even, again just need the luck to run your way.

Perk should know that that’s the entire point of having multiple game series in the NBA, to lessen the volatility and ensure the best teams win. If you made the NBA playoffs 1 game series it would be a lot more like the NCAAB playoffs than what we currently get in the NBA

There is nothing hard about winning a championship in the NBA

In fact its so easy that everyone already knows which two maybe three teams even have any possible chance of winning the thing before the long worthless shite season even starts.

Out of all the leagues the NBA is by an amazing margin the most dead on accurate to preseason odds. Zero times has someone come out and "shocked" anyone. But it has happened in every other sport.

There are only a handful of players that actually matter in the NBA. Get some of them on the same team and you win. Its that easy.

Its extremely rare, if ever, in the NBA a middling team wins the title. Yet, it happened this year in the NFL and happens somewhat regularly

I think that is what he is getting at

Every year, I, and most others, "feel" like 5-6 teams have a legit shot at the title

In the nba, its usually 2 teams max you feel have a shot

That’s what makes it great. The best team wins unless their is major Injuries. 7 game series almost ensures it. NFL the best team doesn’t win the super bowl every year, not by a long shot. Kinda takes away from the sport when the best team isn’t winning the title imo.

NBA titles are generally dominated by a fewer amount of teams. This century 13 different NFL franchises have won rings while only 7 NBA teams have.

Makes the Pats' run really amazing.

In the NBA, you have a 1/30 shot of winning the championship.
In the NFL, you have a 1/32 shot of winning the championship.
He's wrong.

Seven game series can be boring & anti climatic compared to a one & done or double elimination type tournament. Seven games are totally unnecessary to determine a champion & more about Professional greed/ money.

It's a hell of a lot easier for a QB to get hot for 4 games than an NBA player for 20 or so.

Doesn't this kind of make it harder? If you know that no matter what you do, only a few teams can win?

If the NFL had a 7 game series, then the 2001 STL Rams and 2007 Patriots would've won their series in 5 respectively. Since this is the question, then the NFL wins hands down.

How anyone can listen to Perkins and think something intelligent just came out is beyond me.

This is the answer. It’s much harder to build a dynasty in a small market for the NBA. You cant blame the Browns being so bad on the fact that they play in a city like Cleveland. Coaching and development dictate the success of NFL teams a lot more than the NBA.

If Steph Curry hypothetically wanted to come over to Nola somehow next year, the Pels go from missing the playoffs to a top 2-3 seed. But when do you ever see the best players go to teams like Nola, Sac, Orl, etc.
