And deservedly so. His ego allowed him to get caught up in the “who needs the other more” debate between him and Brady. He was trying to bail out from Tom early with Garappolo and Kraft had to reel him in. His comments, even if true, about LT being the greatest player he ever coached. That was a direct and unnecessary dig at Brady.

All Brady ever wanted was a little bit of appreciation which Bill just couldn’t do UNTIL Brady left!

And where did that petty bullshite get you, Bill? Now your entire coaching achievements are in question. A great coach? Yes, of course. GOAT coach? Hmmm.....maybe not.

When Brady was out all year with an injury you didn’t make the playoffs. When he left you didn’t make the playoffs. Suffered New England’s worst home loss of all time.

And what did Brady do, that you wanted to distance yourself from years ago because you didn’t want to share the spotlight? At age 43 he goes to team with miserable success of recent years....the head coach wisely figures out mid season to get out of Tom’s way and the old fart Brady is taking them to a Super Bowl solely and squarely on his back!!!!

Congrats, Bill. Everyone now knows it was you that needed Brady and not the other way around. That argument and speculation has been 100% SETTLED!!! Now your entire coaching career is in question. You had to hitch your wagon to Brady to enjoy the success you had.

And you know what made me suspicious about your coaching ability before Brady left?
While watching ‘Belichick & Saban: The Art of Coaching’ on HBO, I noticed during that entire program Saban did not ask you one single coaching question. Not one! You peppered Saban nonstop with questions about his defense, etc. It was that program that showed me that Saban is your mentor, not the other way around.

Well, Bill....karma has bit you petty ego in the arse. Enjoy your upcoming retirement in the next couple of years. And sit back enjoy the now new “who was the greatest NFL coach of all time?” Because that now has become a valid debate again.

Karma gave him 6 Super Bowls before all that so I’m sure he’s okay

He went 11-5 that year.

This year he had bad cam and a bunch of opt outs. I'm going to hold my judgement until we see a normal year.

Most teams need a good qb.

Anyone who still doesn't have Belicheck as the GOAT NFL coach is a dumbass.

He has one bad season, after dominating the NFL for 20 straight seasons, and the first thing you do is call him overrated. This is a laughably bad take.

Jesus Christ!

How bout you wait another year before declaring that it was "all Brady, and not Bill". He had unfortunate situations all come to a head this season at the same time. Every great coach has it happen to them. The last time he didn't have Brady hr went 11-5 w/Cassell. Funny how you left that out.

Thanks for the weird hot take this morning. Skip Bayless would be proud.

11-5. Nice stat. This isn’t baseball. He didn’t make the playoffs without Brady. Belichick I’m sure will continue to have some nice ‘stats.’ Whoopee fricking do. As Belichick would probably say, frick stats, it’s about winning.
