so 2 max players 1 guy who plays 10mpg on a rookie deal. thats how they got good

Something dell doesn't grasp is that rookie deals are the best value deals In the league. When you pay full price for All of your players you are disadvantaged.
you're only telling part of the story in both scenarios to make it look bad, which is funny b/c you're a rockets fan
your major players were all not drafted by houston
even ignoring that, one huge difference is that Nola isn't a FA destination. houston is, for whatever reason. rookie deals help you clear room for that impact max-FA who puts you over the hump...those guys won't sign with Nola
it is what it is
teams who can't acquire top-shelf FAs have to acquire talent that is being paid already (typically when teams are shedding those deals to rebuild to get back in the "rookie contract cycle'). it's a good value play if you do it well. jrue was hurt, and philly lied about it. can't go back in time to make them be honest.
i don't dislike noel or payton, but let's not act like they're not limited players in their own way
and also, i don't see how you get noel and davis together effectively, b/c both want to play the 4 and neither are great at anchoring at the rim (noel may get there but he's very slight to consistently do this like a bogut or gasol). neither want to play consistently by the rim, on offense or defense. i don't see how you make that work
and payton needs a shot. trotting out AD, noel, and payton could lead to some interesting defensive sets but offensively?

Benson is an idiot.
Anyone that hires an idiot like Dell Demps is a fool. Hopefully our shitey season is a wake up call for Benson to get rid of this loser. If not, Benson needs to hand over ownership to someone who knows what they are doing.

Got good by robbing OKC. Period. Harden made it possible to sign dwight. Then they get guys like Brewsr and Thornton for Notting. Guys who just.. Fit.

Beat LAC tonite with 3 of top 7 players on sideline.
Posted on 11/8/15 at 12:58 am to Boomshockalocka
if only harden was on his rookie contract

Maybe not the best today but they would have room to grow together. Chemistry is more important than talent. when you have no players on good deals tylu can't afford a miss.

Morey says max deals sare the best deals along w rookie deals. Under the old system of course. MAX players are worjth more than they are allowed to be paid. I agree to an extent but disagree w Morey In that he thinks talent wins championships. Chemistry is more imporrtAnr that talent

a) did u know chris paul didnt play b)did u see the goaltend at the end

Thornton is on a minimum 1 yr deal. Brewer is only signed thru this year. They don't have any players that they are committed to long term other than max level players. They always have the flexibility to sign anyone

Yea i saw he didn't play. Doesn't mean much though. In Wcf they had better record without him playing. 1-1 w no Paul. 2-3 when played. Cant saY they would have won if he played. Don't work like that.
Posted on 11/8/15 at 1:20 am to KindaRaw
Yep. Shouldn't have traded away all of the rookies but dell sacrificed long term to save his job for short term. He is baied out by the cap raising more room for error

Saw d12 put up 20/20. Haven seen any highlite. Started 0-3. Now 4-3. Will win 55+ depending on health. 2 seed. 60 wins.

The draft isnt as much of a crapshoot as Pellies like to believe. For stars? sure. Great players? yeah, them too. But role players? There's usually quite a few. Right now in Portland, CJ McCollum is become a very good player and Leonard is learning how to become an NBA player still. Point is, both guys have roles on the team. Add Noel next to AD, you keep your first from the Asik deal and maybe use it for depth in the draft instead of a HR. Cole, EG, Reke/QPon, AD and Noel is a pretty solid team. Not contenders. But your Core is AD and Noel to build around for five years. Lots of flexibility and time to develop the young guys. Instead, AD could be onto his 3rd coach this time next year with a team headed for the lotto ready to blow up the whole thing.

It is a crap shoot from about like 10th onward

Man, Calipari seems to develop such great talent in a single year but can't win with them outside of a lockout year.

Dude has been to like 4 of the last 5 final fours.
CBB has the worst way of deciding an actual champion in like all of sports, so I don't see how that can really been a negative.

I was referring to trading for Holiday and signing Evans--moves that made the Pelicans a .500 team but not much more instead of a 25-30 win team. When he bought the team Benson gave the directive to win now. An extra high pick or two and the Pelicans could've had a great core.
