Just watched for the first time in at least 15 years, my 10 year old likes basketball now and knows the players. We watched the pre game and was hyped. Mid way through the 1st quarter he said “this is stupid” and walked away. Thats my focus group I guess.

Most NBA fans don’t care about the basketball, anyway. They care more about the soap opera aspect surrounding the sport than the play. Who’s dissing who, whose baby mama is stepping out, etc.

Their “All-Star” game resulted in 400 points being scored and their “average” fan is “okay” with that.

I mean this isn't a unique thing to the NBA. The NFL Pro Bowl and the NHL All Star Game are also always high scoring and gimmicky too. Try watching a hockey game where NHL goalies put their gloves behind their back to let their franchise teammate get a goal
The best you can do is not take any of these exhibitions seriously. They're all just messing around doing stuff they wouldn't do in a real game, just trying to put on a show, have fun, and try not to get anyone injured. If that's not what you want to watch, then just don't.

1994 All star game there were 30 TOTAL 3 point attempts taken. 2024 there were 168 total 3's taken. Highlights how boring shot jacking 3's has made the game.
