For the second Hall of Fame ballot in a row, Dan Shaughnessy only voted for Jeff Kent

Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and Sammy Sosa belong in the MLB Hall of Fame.

These folks think they’re upholding the integrity of the game, but ignoring the career accomplishments of some of the best players of all time only cheapens it.

And do we really think Jeff Kent never took PEDs?

As I stated in my OP, putting the best players into the HOF shouldn’t be a subjective call that is subject to the whims of a few pretentious baseball writers. That’s my issue.

Barry Bonds is the best player to ever play the game, but I would never expect you to admit that.

Major League Baseball is too far up its own arse for me to care anymore. They all deserve for their sport to fall into irrelevancy because they act like the biggest virgins on earth.

Well none of them have gotten in so it must be more than a few. If these players were the best then why did they have to achieve these numbers under suspect circumstances? I don't really care I think that baseball is a joke in of itself with all the unwritten rules and how it tries to hold it self up as above other sports. In regards to the players you listed Bonds is a hall of famer no doubt in that I doubt anyone would question he would be there even without using steroids. It's a shame he did because he was already a great player all he did was tarnish his own image. Clemens would still be there also. Sosa is a damn joke, he wasn't shite until he started juicing. But if your issue is with him leaving these players off the ballot your issue should be with those that allow him to vote and not with the voter.

Andruw Jones is on the ballot as well... and he belongs in the Hall of Fame.

But to only vote for 1 person... saying NO ONE else on the ballot is deserving.... that's rediculous.

He was certainly a POTENTIAL Hall of Famer when he started juicing.

Would he have been a first ballot HOFer?

Would ANYONE have considered him "the best player to ever play the game" without juicing?

We'll never know.

What we do KNOW FOR A F*CKING FACT is that he wasn't the feared hitter he became until AFTER he started juicing.

For that reason alone, I would look at his career in two phases -- pre-Juicing and post-Juicing.

Given that, I think there is a reasonable debate as to whether he's a HOFer from STRICTLY his pre-Juicing days.

Now, certainly, had he not juiced and kept playing at the same level before he started juicing, ODDS ARE that he would have put up numbers to be a first-ballot HOFer.

But, again, WE'LL NEVER KNOW.

And, Bonds can only blame his own ego and narcissistic behavior for this.

Further, BECAUSE he was on track to perhaps be a first-ballot HOFer but then decided to Juice because he wasn't getting the adulation that he craved, I would never vote for him to be a HOFer. I would vote for someone like Andy Pettit before Bonds because Pettit only started juicing late in his career due to mounting injuries.

You have Griffey and Henderson but no Mays, Cobb, Aaron, or Ted Williams?

For Gibson do you mean Bob or Josh?--just curious

The steroid/PED argument in MLB is a dumb one to me. Steroids weren’t even tested for by MLB until 2003. By that time, Bonds was 38 years old. If we’re going to grandfather in punishments for performance enhancing substances after the fact, then let’s kick hall of fame third baseman Mike Schmidt out while we’re at it, since he admitted to taking amphetamines, a performance enhancing and equally banned substance, throughout his playing career.

As good as they were, I wouldn't have Griffey, and especially Henderson, anywhere in the top 10. That's not a knock, it's just that there are some insanely great players in front of them.

Any list that doesn't involve Ted Williams is lacking. Bonds is certainly up there, along with Ruth. Aaron has to be up there. People often don't realize how great of an all-around hitter he was, aside from being the legitimate home run king. Mays is up there. Gehrig, the first ten years of Albert Pujols, A-Rod (if we're ignoring steroids with Bonds we have to include Alex on this list). Trout, I would probably put in there, though I'm not as gaga over him as many are.

The one player I struggle with where to put him is Ty Cobb. I don't care if people liked him or not, as that's got nothing to do with baseball. It's just that he was so dominant, and yet his career spanned over such a different era, that I don't know how to compare him. I mean, guys like Ruth and Williams were obviously a long time ago, but baseball changed a lot from the beginning of Cobb's career, to the time that Williams came around. And though Ruth came along between those guys, he truly changed the game to what it has become. He made other teams value power hitting, and that changed the way pitchers pitched. Ty Cobb was the best of his generation, but his generation was a weird time for baseball.

Because the baseball writers are sanctimonious pricks who have deemed themselves the arbiters of virtual as gate keepers of the hall. And they're really really shitty at it.

That's speculation. We know for a fact that Bonds juiced up.
