I like Harper, but that doesn't change the fact that he's a cocky mofo. Hell I'd be the same way if I were in his shoes

Inrememberbseeing something about baseball players being the least educated and most trashy off the Big 4 sports in the US. I believe it.

People hated him because he ran everything out and played too hard. Now he doesn't sprint one out and all of a sudden he's a cancer.

This is what blows my mind about it.

Is their a more self entitled, les self aware, arrogant piece of crap is sports than Harper.

When it comes to young elite athletes, he is the anti-Gronk.

How is grobk not this? his team wins, which is the only difference.

Gronk isn't a model athlete. If anything, he gets away with the "thug" behavior other athletes don't and is "lovable" for acting like a dumb jock.

He's right. Do that shite in the locker room and it's not a problem.
You do it when it happens, not 2 hours later. Freaking ultra sensitive kids that can't handle any the smallest slights.

Still, pap is the wrong one to deliver the message.

That's fine but you don't ninja surprise the best player on the team with a choke hold.. Pappledouche is a cock smoking a-hole who has no room to talk when comes to young cocky attitudes.

This is a tough call. I wonder if Pap had the backing of the locker room to deliver a message. When McCann on the Tigers dogged out Iglesias for being lazy, you kind of felt that he wasn't in the position to do it as Iglesias is the better player. But, it came out later that there where some was some talk behind the scenes that Iglesias needed an attitude check.

This seems like a straw man. Did someone really dislike him for giving full effort?

Trust me, he didn't. The team leadership (Werth, Desmond, Zimmerman, Scherzer) hate his bitch arse.

Which reminds me - somewhere, Drew Storen is laughing.

Papelbon needs to die. What a fricking punk. Nationals would be a billion times worse without Harper.

This thread is a fricking joke and shows how many people don't watch MLB. Harper gives more effort than the rest of MLB. A lot of the knock on him from the unwritten rules people is he tries too hard and needs to relax. Pap was being an arrogant dumbass calling out Harpers effort of all people

I'm sure this isn't the first time they've gone at it. This was probably carry over from something that happened behind the scenes.

Probably

It would be tempting to release or trade Pap but you don't want to send a message that the stars aren't expected to put out the same effort. Seems to me Pap was probably on the receiving end of the same type of "encouragement" from Harper in teh past and waited for his first chance to show him up in return.

Everyone called him a douche bag because he was your typical Johnny Hustle type guy. Even other Major Leaguers were pissed off at him for playing too hard. Effort has never been his issue.

Exactly, he's the best position player in baseball, and when you're at the top, everything you do is scrutinized. People need to make up their mind. frick Papelbon.
