Jon Gruden's system has led to a 'disconnect' in the Raiders' front office...

Gruden has an inner circle for personnel that "spearheaded the signing of several free agents, the jettisoning of previous draft picks and the trade of Khalil Mack." He also has his own draft board that's separate from the rest of the organization. It's created a fall out with GM Reggie McKenzie's guys and filled the Raiders with washed up veterans. McKenzie turned down GM interviews last offseason and "could seek other options after this year." Gruden's outdated approach has Oakland trending in the wrong direction, but the Raiders have no choice but to stay the course after shelling out a record-breaking contract.

Well, they're stuck with him to 10 years so they'd better figure it out. My guess is that ownership gave Gruden that contract knowing the years before the move would be rough. They obviously committed to Gruden long term.

Mr, GM gonna be gone.

McKenzie distancing himself from all of Gruden's shitty moves since he knows he's on the way out.

Again, it's laughable that he was so sought out as a head coach.

In the NFL, it was only 1 team that was serious about him, and in CFB, it was only really 1 team.

Raiders and Vols

True, but he was a sought after name for the better part of a decade. That’s simply unheard of and doubt we’ll ever see this again. He certainly leveraged that super bowl win for years.

Shocker when you hire a guy and give him full control over a successful GM who is still in the building that there will be friction

Well, is the front office a model of excellence or something? Maybe they need to be shaken up

Huh? Reggie is 'successful' in Oakland?

Reggie has precisely four good draft picks thus far: Khalil Mack, who he refused to pay; Derek Carr in the 2nd of '14; Gabe Jackson in the 3rd round of '14; Kolton Miller in the 1st round of '18.

Look at the rest of the additions he made from 2012 until today. The roster is a mess, it was a mess last year and it was a mess in '16 when they went to the playoffs.

Reggie has done okay. Not great. Not good. Just ... okay.

Cult of personality in full effect.

Gruden is a marketable version of Brian Billick

It was the biggest obvious disaster in sports. He’s an outdated overrated ego maniac . Couldn’t happen to a better team
