I don't get it. The raiders were a great team 2 years ago. What happened to put them in rebuild mode?

They won a lot of one possession games that season. That's a stat that tends to correct itself.

I get what Gruden is doing. He had to trade Mack because he was commanding a salary the Raiders couldn't afford because of all the money sunk into Carr, and Gruden inherited the Carr deal. Can't have half your payroll sunk into just two players.
The rest of it is just breaking down the roster and rebuilding. The Raiders weren't going to be that good, so might as well really suck and get draft picks and rebuild. They are leaving Oakland anyway so who cares if they win now. They need to be young and talented and primed to take off when they hit Vegas.
