They could have moved up to 5A at anytime between 1991 and 2005, he didn't want to. He cares more about guaranteed championships than truly competing week in and week out. At least Evangel has always had the balls to challenge themselves. Win, lose, or draw

He did want to move up in Football only, they felt it would hurt the other sports if they all had to move up...that was well known.
that was always the excuse, because they had a bunch of programs that were competing for state championships in other sports during that time.. They never wanted to move up to 5A. until recently

Dead wrong they could have played as high as they wanted prior to the 2004 play in class rule
See evengel.

And the results speak for itself.
Guarantee you they wouldn't have all those titles if they played in the Catholic league and 5A for the last couple of decades.

To be fair those were two of the weaker Curtis teams in years. Prior to st aug beating them w four ette. They were 17-1 vs the catholic league in the previous 20 years

They had practice before class. Find another issue to nitpick
Practice before class ... what a truly wonderful thing. It's like Disney World for football. I bet those players are bright eyed and bushy-tailed for class after a multi hour football practice in the early a.m.
As Mick Jagger said ... You can't always get what you want. Where there no high schools in N.O. East? Why couldn't JT send his little short bus to pick him up? Scared one day he wouldn't show up to get on? I wonder how fast he would have been kicked to the curb if he would have quit football but still wanted to attend and get that quality education at the "Harvard on Jefferson Highway".
And what of the monetary consideration involved in feeding the youngster and God knows what else they provided for him? I guess that was no inducement to him staying in the vicinity of good old River Ridge?
When are people going to get that the Curtis' livelihood depends on the football team's success? You think WGNO would hire JT, or Nike would sponser equipment for, or coaches would buy videos from, or busineses would make commercials with a 5-5 team? You know they ain't making money off the tuition, probably breaking even (only the few non-athletes and bench warmers are the "tuition payers" after all - not enough left over to pay the car and house notes). Oh, I forgot, they get a some supplemental income from the so-called Summer school they run. You know, the one where failing students from other schools magically earn A's over the summer just by showing up (or maybe not). Easy money, easy A's, a "win-win" as they say.
I could go on but I guess that's enough nit-picking for now.

I played at Curtis and we NEVER had practice before class. Nice myth. Just another lie that sprouts from the jealousy. We did work our asses off after school and in the summer. And instead of a typical PE class, we would lift weights. But we wouldn't have practice during the school day.

Not my myth, one of your buddies posted that in response to my posting on a quote from the "headmaster" saying that he couldn't make it to practice on time from N.O East.
So if the practices where after school, then why would he not be on time for it if he lived with his Uncle? I'm so confused.
Sounds like JT got some 'splaining to do

poor little jealous baby. Did Curtis rip your team a new one sometime in the past three decades or so?
Also, jealous much?

Let's talk about Curtis being witch-hunted... I could take a kid like him in and much worse but since we don't win state no one would ever find out or care.

The standard company line. That must be like the first thing taught in the JC critic response handbook.
Probably even gives examples:
What time is practice over at JC? ... "Jealous!"
Do I really have to work for work study? ... "Jealous!"
Hey JC boy, what's the weather prediction tomorrow? .... "Jealous!"
So on and so forth. Sorta like pleading the 5th.
I have no dog in this hunt, so at least the "JC must have beat you" line isn't infallable

In the 70s/80s (A / AA), Curtis would play schools that were lucky to dress 35 players for the game. Curtis would dress at least 60.

Daily Sadvertiser story
I am amazed that they investigated based on Tommy Henry texting a newspaper story to BJ Guzzardo. Supposedly a formal written complaint from a member principal is the way to initiate an investigation.

I was never really aware of the exact times the team practiced. Although many times I i got to school an hour before school started and never saw the team practicing that early.
Yes, if they did receive work-study they had to work.
And i have no better idea of what the weather will be tomorrow any better than the weatherman does.
I realize this will do nothing for your sad, pathetic soul, and i don't care.
And for someone who claims to have no dog in this hunt, you sure do care an awful lot...jealous much?
BTW, he got a much better education at Curtis than he ever would have at any NOLA public school.

This is Curtis' fault how?-too bad if kids want to play for a winner, deal with it.
