JJ Watt has told Santa Fe High School that he'll pay for the funerals for the victims of today;s shooting.

Sometimes I feel like he does stuff for attention, but then he does stuff like this (and hurricane relief fundraising) and I just feel like the worst person for ever thinking that about him. He’ll probably spend $500k or so, just so these families don’t have to think about finances during the worst time of their lives.

He’s an absolutely fantastic person.

Attention whore or not he doesn't have to do it. you have to give the man credit for doing good things... And I am sure it will get other people companies to match.

I've come to the conclusion that, attention whore or not, the dollars spend the same.

And maybe him being an attention whore might some day motivate other professional athletes to step up.

I’ve got family at that school and I don’t live far from there. We were very lucky today. There is some psychological damage but nothing like what the parents will go through.

JJ obviously doesn’t hate attention, however I think the ends justify the means. He stepped up and made a lot of grieving people feel a little love. It won’t help them deal with their pain enough to stop them from suffering but every bit helps when things seem this dark.

I don’t want to judge his intentions. I’d rather admire him for being someone in the one percent who spends his money to make a difference. The world would be a much better place if there were more wealthy people that spent their fortune doing good.

It hasn’t been a great day for my friends and family near here. Having someone step up and show support does make a difference in my opinion. So whether it is true or not, his actions make me believe that he is a good person.

Beyond that most of us can’t afford to do what he did. People act like assholes on here and talk a lot of shite for fun and rivalries. When you read comments from people about this from people on here, I believe that there are a lot of people on here that are sending prayers and would do the same thing if they had the ability. So my opinion is that JJ Watt and everyone that took time to post their feelings are equally virtuous and important.

Anyway sorry for being too serious but there are a lot of sad people here that need to feel love right now. My thanks isn’t important, however I just wanted to mention that the positive energy makes a difference.

That's great and all but what we really need is more thoughts and prayers!

There are all kinds of people that enjoy the spot light, at least ours does good with it.

Watt raised 37 mil in part because he has built up the good will to be credible. There aren’t many people that could pull off what he did after Harvey.

Between this and his Harvey work, he should run for mayor.

Seems like a good dude but I'd rather see him fund more robust entry control points and similar items. Hate to knock on him...I'm just thinking of security moving forward.
